If you want to skip the talk...use the time stamps and check out the examples of running it against Flood.
0:00 - 2:00 = I think knowing why youre running a defensive concept is what's more important when calling defense. You are a defensive coordinator when on defense. Know what the defense you called is strong against and weak against. This kind of thinking is what spurred making this coverage.
2:01 - 3:50 = Box coverage vs bunch and the issue of it playing against bunch. I may have forgotten that I fiddled with this coverage on the practice field, but this still doesn't take away from the point of the video.
3:51 - 8:33 = Creating cover 3 cloud match in Madden and who to user.
8:34 - 11:20 = Functional against other coverages.
11:21 - 12:30 = Cover 3 cloud match vs a high low on the outside. Snag. Also, safety outer 1/3 more aggressive to sideline. If you do this, your defense should protect his inside.
12:31 - 14:12 = Cover 3 cloud match vs FLOOD finally. Your rules as the user.
14:13 - 16:42 = How I put it together [cloud match roll] against 3 x 1. Where it is weak. I would imagine, if we had the tools, we could just throw in an UNDER call to alleviate the route combination I showed that would leave 1 uncovered. We don't have this in madden though.
16:43 - 18:00 = Cover 3 match vs 3 x 1. Being forced to do this because cover 3 seam does not match 3 x 1. Madden developers literally the laziest.
18:01 - 18:41 = In essence, this is a coverage I rarely use, but is good to have a special coverage in the bag for the time that you need it.
18:42 - 19:54 = Cover 3 cloud match vs Flood from bunch.

Great video. You have no idea how much this has helped me since you’ve told me. Only thing I would say is in your example at 15:20 instead of outside leverage I would play inside leverage for 2 reasons. If for some reason your pressure doesn’t get home a crosser would be wide open if he was able to get across the field because your Lb simply won’t be able to keep up from outside leverage. 2 you have a cloud flat to the outside so any out breaking routes would have to be thrown at the top of the break for that route to be available. Which if they make that throw I would live with but adjust as the game goes on if they are consistent with that kind of throw.

Yes I was. Flood was killing me i’ve been doing a lot better with it. That was literally my only trouble play defensively.

@jamaaljohnson9124 I'm always in fear of a go route om that cause he'd play under it I believe. Unless I'm wrong. Then again too....soft squat will jump the flat route leaving the window open for the corner

As I continued to watch the video, I realized the idea behind this coverage is the same as what the MUT community calls “Double Mable”, where your essentially getting 3 layers of defense outside the numbers the account for the high low stretch on the flat defender and maddens poor coding of defensive play against bunch

Just a heads up, this might not work to the left side. Match coverage is super weird this year in that vs certain formations, match will work on the right side, but not the left. for example cover 6 vs trips works when the trips is to the right. but when its to the left, the matching breaks and you get a busted coverage.

Hey xando. How do you deal with 3x1 trips offenses with a speedy receiver on the single side. I’ve been getting torched by a guy with zay flowers when I was playing quarters

You may want to check out my quarters family video against trips sets. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ibqIlqSHqtXVk2g.html But . . . When you play quarters against 3 x 1, you are essentially stealing the backside safety and inserting him on the frontside. He is taking the vertical of the number 3 on the strong side. The weakness of this is, you are 1 on 1 on the backside with the X and the backside back on your weakside backer. When guys attack weakside of quarters in trips, you want to play a coverage that keeps the safety on that back side. Playing Palms or Cover 6 does this. In cover 6, you are playing cover 2 on that side with a safety topping that weakside player . . . In palms, you can do whatever you want with the backside safety. You could double him on the X....or user him to help on deep routes by the x.

@XandoFootball I use it from bnog. And when u come out in it the line is already in an under front. If u shift the line right, the strong safety come down to the line. Knowing this can make some crazy defensive looks. This also works from quarters and palms coverage as well in BNOG.

I think nowadays madden has seen so many coverage busts due to the original rules of the game and ppl complained, that instead of getting it right, they just have some sort of “anti-coverage bust logic”, which just does a ton of mental gymnastics to make it so unreliable, which is the worst thing you can do. I’m fine if certain concepts cause coverage busts, if the concept to stop it is also on the game…

No. You cannot call cover 3 cloud and run this. Game won't match. You have to call a specific quarters defense and make the adjustments. Against bunch, you can call any quarters defense . . .reg or palms. Cloud flat the outside corner . . . Frontside safety has to be changed to outer third over the bunch. . . backside safety plays inside third . . . User the 3rd defender in and squeeze the bunch taking the 1st route inside. Against 3 x 1 . . . You have to call palms . . . and make all of the same adjustments. You have to have a safety package or a weird sub package called so you can make the safety adjustments. If text is kind of hard to explain . . . just use the time stamps to locate what you need. But you can't call cover 3 cloud and do this. Most important thing in response to your question. MATCH has to be on btw.

@@CalvinKandie so the coverage rolls strong here (safety on the weak side is rolling to the deep middle, while the other rolls deep over top) A wk rotation (safety rolls to deep middle from strong side) buzz coverage (LB in flat safety in hook curl).
