I'm happy you're feeling better and can admit to yourself that you weren't. It's totally normal to feel sad in hindsight, it's a bit like feeling sad for a good friend. Just try to focus on the fact that you're better now and learn from it

About not following when everyone is speaking at the same time, I felt like this on my year abroad in Spain. It was almost like everything was echoing and I couldn't even pick up what people were saying, my mind would so easily blank it out against my will, ha-ha. But I do think listening to music in that language weirdly helped with it?

26:00 or so. I get it Eve. Instagram keeps bringing up photos from my MRes year, and I look so sad, so cold and so poorly in 95% of them. And at the time I could not see it. My GP wasn't concerned at the time, so I assumed I must be fine, and I now get why my supervisor was so scared. Why he thought he'd be going to my funeral, not my graduation, and if i think about it too much I get consumed by the guilt.

videos like these just make me wanna drop everything and move. been five years since I moved to the UK but I think I have a soft spot for Berlin for some reason. it just has so much history and is so "artsy" and creative that it feels like it would mesh well with how I want to live my life. I do feel like not knowing German would be a barrier to getting work but then again depends what kind of work I wanna do and if I'll start my own or something but just be based there. anyhow, don't be harsh on yourself for not using the language so much, I feel like that pressure will only make you feel bad but not help with what you want to get out of the experience so just stay positive about it, doesn't mean that some other day you won't have a double dose of it so it will balance out eventually. def want to go so bad now seeing how wonderful it is again. I've been there only during cold months so never experienced a berlin summer.

This year marks 5 years since I moved to uni and I know how you feel about looking back on your past self and thinking about how much has changed! you r a foreign country you should eat and drink outside as much as you can. eating out is not just because one doesnt want to cook etc. it is about socialising snd connecting with people and diving into the culture. so u dont have to justify that, cuz believe me i speak from experience , once back home u will regret it. you can cook as much as you want when u r back home

I think it would be a really good idea if you start doing more vlogs in germany that way you're "englishing" > < and you could write translation in english and that way you're sort of training your translation from germany to english skills. You could also attract a new "demographic" of people who would like to learn germany and at the same time your viewers would still be able to watch your videos and maybe even learn with you. I'm only suggesting. You know best for yourself obviously. And Berlin looks like a dream😍

The same thing happens to me when I look at photos two years ago, I was in a dark place and it takes me back to how I felt then and how poor my mental health was and how insecure I was.

This vlog makes me want to get up and move to a city and be productive! Such good vibes in this vlog Eve!

I went on exchange to Germany when I was younger and got very good at saying to my exchange and his friends 'Keine Angst, ich kann sie verstanden, aber ich kann nicht schnell genug denken, um zu verstanden und zu sprechen in die gleiche Momente' ('Don't worry, I can understand you, but I can't think quickly enough to understand and to speak in the same moments')

I cried yesterday because one of two cakes I made had a crack, it was being iced so it got hidden anyway so... yeah, we all get sad for what we later think are stupid reasons. I get your sadness. "OMG! My baking abilities used to suck at the start of uni" (I do a food and baking degree) is what I think so much of the time. The concert looks like it was SO fun! More vlogs, yes pls!

Don't beat yourself up about not speaking enough german - you're doing loads!! Also it's completely normal to find it hard to understand a group conversation/get a word in edgeways - in one-on-one conversations I'm fine but if there's lots of people all talking to each other it's overwhelming.
