Elise, just a little tip from someone who have watched a lot of crochet tutorials. When filming a tutorial or showing us details, use a solid color table/background, preferably white. It is so much easier for the viewer to see. I noticed your tablecloth had a lot of patterns and colors, it’s difficult to se what you are trying to show. No negativity, just a tip 😊

Oh thanks so much!! My table is white and when I'm using white yarn I tend to use a background cloth. But you're right! I need to find one that's a solid color! Thanks for the suggestion!! 🧶🧶🧶

Thank you for putting yourself out there, Elise! Your video resonated with me on so many levels - the "squirrel brain" of a mom to kids who are trying to launch (but still need their mom), aging parents with health issues, our own health maintenance, pets (and husbands😅), and trying to carve out a little time for our own interests. You do it with grace, beauty and authenticity. Thank you again.

You are so creative! Life is definitely busy! For me too! My daughter and granddaughter live with me. My Mom called a week ago Wednesday evening and I took her to emergency room here. They took her by ambulance to Nashville Vanderbilt hospital and did surgery next day. A friend from Nashville went to be with her while I stayed home to take care of my handicapped brother. She is home now and doing well. She was getting ready for a yard sale when it happened. We have worked on it all week. Will have next Friday and Saturday. My sister got back from her daughter's in Indiana and has been staying nites as she works and I am staying days. Family is definitely first! It is a lot of coordination to get it all done but I love my family as you do and we do it! I love, love, love your projects. Hope to make my grandchildren and great grandchildren, and great nephew gifts for Christmas. A horse, a zebra, doll clothes. Taking it one day at a time...lol!! The leaves are changing here in Tennessee and beautiful!

Hi Elise Thank you so much for sharing the behind the scenes, it is very enlightening to see and know that many people have to juggle whilst trying not to drop the balls in the air 😉 My family is blessed we are a large group and we are all there to help each other, especially my Nana who has been unwell the last few weeks. I wish your Mum a speedy recovery. You remind me of myself when I tell my kitty Cats not to scratch up the carpet or furniture 😂 Enjoy your trips with your Son - you definitely have some gorgeous scenery. Everyone definitely should look after there health and be aware of what’s going on within their bodies…knowledge is definitely power. You always want to be ahead of the game…I wish I was but we can’t change things. I hope you get the test results you need. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you also for being who you are. Take care and stay safe and well. God bless you all 🙏🏽💖😊🧶

Omg when you said I love things neat and tidy but you just can't seem to get there. And when you do it inspires you and then another mess is made. That is 100% me. I had a colonoscopy done in May of last year. I had mine at 46 years old. I was having an endoscopy and the doctor said let's do them both at the same time. I was glad I had it done just for peace of mind. I have alot of health issues and I don't need any more.

Hi Elise, loved the video today! I think your work room is adorable. I thought you were from the south, I was guessing South or North Carolina! I am in Georgia. I have been knitting and crocheting since I was a teenager. I became a fiber artist about 15 years ago. I had never thought of myself as a real artist, just a woman with a love of all things yarn. Then a very dear friend of mine who worked at an art department in a university in California, looked at my work and said that it was comparable to many of the professional things that she had seen displayed at various fiber art exhibits. She helped me to see that what I made had beauty and artistic value and that my own designs and patterns were unique. It really changed how I viewed what I did and gave me confidence to try new things. It truly opened up a whole new world for me. :) This summer for a little change I tried my hand at embroidery and thread painting. Now I am back working on a new shawl design. I have a small craft room upstairs which I affectionately call "The Lair". I think we have a lot in common. Have a great day ahead!

You and I have a LOT in common! I am the messy craft room cycle person, too. I'll get it totally messy, yarn everywhere, then I will break down and tidy it up and I love it... for all of a few hours that it lasts! lol. Also, I had a colonoscopy due to bleeding in my rectum while pregnant. After I had my daughter (which was a month early due to a placental abruption where we both almost died), they found the very large polyp and it was beyond precancer, it was stage 1. Through two surgeries, back to back, it was removed. I then saw a more local oncologist who had the foresight to get me genetically tested for that very same gene mutation. Turns out, I have it--Lynch Syndrome. It's not "if" but WHEN I get cancer, which round 2 has already happened--recently. This was stage 4 lymphoma (it moved a bit from where it was), to which they removed the tumor, 47 lymph nodes in my lower body, my colon, and my rectum, resulting in an ileostomy. I had already had a hysterectomy years prior due to the risk of cancer showing up there next, thus ruining my chances for more children. During the ileostomy procdure, they also took my ovaries due to the risk there as well, putting me in medically induced menopause. So awesome.... I have stage 4 lymphedema from this surgery on my left leg which totally sucks and has caused both my knees to have severe arthritis. I'm 44. My first round of cancer was when I was 37. Far too young to have an old man's cancer. Which is why my oncologist wanted me tested for the mutation. I am telling everyone this story not for sympathy, but to really drive home the importance of getting regular check ups and colonoscopies. Yes, they suck. I hate the swill, even the sports drink and miralax, it sucks. If you have a family history of people dieing from colon cancer--get tested. My dad died 3 years ago TODAY from the exact same thing. I watched him die a slow, painful, horrible death. It makes me incredibly angry every time I think about it, which is often. Lynch Syndrome is passed down by a parent. It doesn't skip generations. So really think about those family trees, people. Even caught early, I was already at stage 4 with a miracle of being able to get rid of a stage 4 by surgery. I came out missing some parts through this war, but I'm still kickin'. Now that that is all off my chest... I love this channel and maybe someday, you can design some amigurumi with my hand dyed yarn!

Thank you so very much for sharing your story. It is an important one to tell. I also tested positive for a gene mutation and see the geneticist on Thursday. It's not Lynch syndrome but a different colon cancer mutation. I'm very very lucky that I didn't have cancer. Neither one of my parents have ever had a colon polyp but I inherited a mutation from both of them. I am so very sorry you're going through this. Thank you so much for sharing, it's important for people to know. ❤️❤️❤️

I didn't realize you and I are so close in age! I never really thought about it before, but cool to find out. My mom'll hate it, but I gotta share this story, and I hope it gives you a good laugh. So, about twenty years ago, my parents were going for their first colonoscopies. They decided they were both gonna get them over with on the same day. So they got the mixture thing you have to drink, were both drinking them that day, and went the next day to get things taken care of. Well, about a week before this, my mom's telling me about it, and our house has two bathrooms, one full one and one that's basically a closet with a toilet in it. Anyway, she looks at me and says, "Now, there are two bathrooms, and there's two of us. You need to go, you use the yard!" Lol, much hilarity happened throughout that entire thing. I hope you get answers soon and I hope they're positive ones. And that your mom's back on her feet soon. My grandma recently had knee surgery and apparently, she feels better and is walking better and more comfortably than she has in years, so I hope your mom has a similar outcome. Also, she has adorable dogs. :)

Well, I'm sitting in my recliner making a mini chicken from the pattern from The Wandering Deer. I had a craft show today, 45 minute drive from home... Left 6:50 am, got home at 5. Between unloading, walking around at the show, loading and a shopping trip to Whole Foods on the way home, I am wiped out. I also have a pattern that needs to go to testers, and I have three patterns that were published in a eBook, but now I can release them on revelry and Etsy as individual patterns. I need to get that done. So, your video make me feel so much better, knowing that I'm not the only one who sets some deadlines and then has to change them because life gets in the way. It was nice to spend 15 minutes with you sitting here with my feet up as I have some yarn therapy after a tiring and discouraging day. Sales were not all that good!

Your new kitty is SO CUTE! I can't wait to see the pattern. I know how crazy family life can be. About two weeks ago, I got a text from my mom that was a pic of my dad's arm...no explanation, just the pic and there was a huge chunk missing from the inside of his forearm! I immediately called and he had been in the garage looking through their garbage because my mom thought her credit card had accidentally been thrown out with the junk mail. He was sitting on the walker/seat thing she had from when she had her quadruple bypass two years ago and the brakes don't work very well on it. He leaned forward and it rolled out from under him and he hit his arm on something that was sticking out either on the garbage can or something in it. It rolled the skin right up "like a hotdog" (his words..lol) and he was bleeding all over their garage. My mom got him to the hospital and he ended up with 38 stitches! After they got out of there, they went home (they live in a retirement community over in Kentucky) and cleaned the blood off the floor. I still can't believe they didn't just call me to come over and help..I told them I would have cleaned it up. Sometimes they're a little too independent! My dad is fine..he wanted to play golf the next week but my mom wouldn't let him. Anyway, I hope your mom is doing well! :)

Elise, I’m new to your channel and enjoying getting to know you and inspired to try amigurami. I think it’s nice to show the messy sides of life…because I think all creative people are a bit disorganized and on the run trying to catch their tail all the time. Even with my children grown I still can’t seem to find all that spare time I thought would be there…or a perfectly cleaned house!!! Thank you for being real… Anne

I'm watching your videos for quite a long time, but it's my first comment. I really don't know why because I love every videos I watched! I'm currently knitting a blanket with some scraps but I'm thinking of starting a granny square blanket too. My last amigurumi was " Zero" the ghost dog from the nightmare before Christmas. And as you were asking where we come from, I'm from France and guess what? My first name is Elise too 😉 Thank you for sharing your crochet adventures and some of your daily life with us. I have been noticing that kitten in your previous videos and scouring the internet for the pattern - just figured out why I can't find it 🤔. I am waiting with baited breath for your pattern to be available. Unfortunately, I can't knit so I will have to figure out crochet clothes (and pointy ears instead of round) but I love putting my own spin on patterns - that's what I love about amigurumi and crochet and I hope you agree. Having said that - please look after your Mom; family comes first. I can wait - I have other crochet projects I'm working on (there are always things to crochet!). I'm in California (but originally from England) and I love listening to your accent as well as all the great content. I have only just found your channel, so I'm enjoying going back to watch all the old videos as well. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

Great video! We are so much alike in so many ways. I too go through the cycle of cleaning everything up, getting inspired to be creative….aaaaaannnd making a big mess lol. I have my hand I so many different pots and kids all have different needs so I totally get the “chaos”. Sometimes I think I thrive in the chaos. I love the kitty pattern (especially since our collection of kitties is growing) I’m sure it will all get finished in just the right time. Oh, and I have the t-shirt! I bought it after you talked about it in a different video last year!! My favorite way to party!

Thanks, Elise. This video puts a realistic light on how KZfaqrs live! In many ways you are a younger version of me! Procrastinator here, BIG TIME! When you talked about procrastinating, you grabbed my attention - NOW!!! I was wondering about your pattern and had all sorts of negative self-talk going on in my head. LESS negative than previously in my life, but enough words that I had to soothe them away from my inner self! Life certainly does get in the way of our “plans”! It’s what we do with our one and only life that makes us who we are. You are definitely a family person! Also, when health issues come up for us or for others in our life, it’s IMPORTANT that we address them! Looking forward to eventually seeing Kitten and Her Mittens. Great job Elise, Prayers for your mom's speedy recovery. Life happens and we can plan as much as we can for it, but really it comes down to how we handle the situations and things that is put in our path. Sounds to me like you have your priorities straight and you sometimes have to shift your plans to make room for what is important to you and to your life. I have had toe surgery before and know the difficulty with getting around for someone in their (at that time 30's) I can only imagine the adjustments someone older has to make with a total foot surgery.
