In today’s episode of “Heavy Haul Nation” we had a lot of obstacles we had to get around being 16+ feet tall bridges overhead signs trees and power lines can become our enemy very quickly. So why don’t you sit back and take a short journey with me to find out what we have to go through to make this load to the customer safely.
Don’t forget to check out my social media pages where I post all sorts of pictures and little videos of my day to day activities.

You are the creator of your own destiny

Even at five miles per hour, you had me concerned. I would have had to stop and get out and look. I'm glad that you're the professional that you are. Keep up the good work.

15ft overpass in the 80's, the new pavement was 7" there sign did not show it. I got stopped, but the other truck took the bridge out. Something to always keep in the back of your mind. Snow or pavement sure takes away from your coverage fast.

One time I hauled a permitted 15' high load, a building. As I came down the hill , in a valley, there was a phone/power cable hanging way down, poles on both sides of the road all bent and leaning. Black cable on a black background, all but invisible, way lower than it was supposed to be.... fortunately since I was going fast it actually just blew the cable out of the way LOL. I can guarantee you that won't happen with an overpass.

Texas permits are a nightmare! A couple things I often do with some of those confusing routes is either plug them into Google maps and use that to follow the route. their directions are a lot easier than some of the permits. (Texas) Another trick is to actually write the roads down on the driver side window with a dry erase marker. Keep the good work, I'm off in the morning to load a few 11 foot wide air handlers in the morning. See ya on the highway!

Pulled heavy for 20 years and I can give you a small piece of advice. The pole car , get the largest condom you can find fill it with talc , then tape it to the top front of the pole . When the pole hits the bridge it blows the condom hurling talc everywhere for you to see . That shortens the time . Another thing I had dump valves on the trailer and tractor to get me 5 inches.

That stator you were hauling is the mechanism that rotates a ball mill used to crush copper ore. The ore from the mine is placed in a gigantic steel tube along with steel balls the size of small cannon balls. The stator then slowly rotates the tube and the steel balls crush the ore into a fine powder (concentrate) which is then sent to a smelter where it is turned into metal. Just some otherwise useless information learned while working at a copper mine one summer. Enjoyed the video.

People have asked me “what’s the scariest part of heavy hauling?” Over the years as my load numbers increase you’d think my “learning opportunity’s” would decrease right? NOPE the moment I start thinking like that is the moment I smack a bridge or come off a hill a little hotter than I should’ve. 20ft wide doesn’t intimidate me, 300,000lbs won’t rattle my nerves, 180ft long?? Bring it on!!! but anything over 14’6” tall and I’m the new guy again with giving some extra attention at 15’6” anxiety sets in and I’m annoyed that I have to drive 200 miles in the wrong direction to avoid a bridge over 16ft??? F-U I better be making a lot for this load! You can slow down for being heavy, and plan ahead for extra time, when you’re steering away from trouble it’s always fun to impress yourself that you made it through when you’re to long or wide fixing a mistake, but bridges don’t move and chances are if you’ve made that mistake and missed your off ramp or your permit had you cleared to go that way but you’re stopped in the middle of town on the shoulder trying to come up with a solution you’re attracting the wrong attention and next to hurting someone else or damaging your load the ego of us heavy haul drivers are fragile and we HATE for egos to be damaged while people are watching... tall loads separates the men from the boys out here and they suck!I lol Good job on your channel buddy stat safe out there and keep the rubber side down!
