Love the model 1 alpha 1! The Tripod mount and camera strap mount is worth the extra money for sure! Good video!

Get the polaroid 680 or 690 model - and you will get much more consistent results - both have autofocus and flash - you will be super surprised - dont give up - you wont beleave it until you see it - such a huge difference between those two cameras 680 and 690 versus the SX-70 - so thumps up and try again 👍

Keep shooting man! But that motor sounds like it’s ✨struggling lol gotta love it. I would recommend getting it restored by a pro, the difference it makes is unreal! If you can swing the price you won’t regret it!

It came to my mind that maybe using a Mint ND filter would help with the sunny days, since some of the pictures came out overexposed. But then again, the filter set for the camera is $80, and then there goes the flash… I'm thinking on buying this camera, but the price for all that you need is just so high

Rather than buy a $700 polaroid 680 i have my sx70 and have shot it with 600 type film, on a cloudy day with one stop under exposed it shoots fine, if you want to use it with 600 in the bright sunlight, you can purchase a $15 Pack ND filter, thats what i do, its cheaper and results are just as good.

Buy the Polaroid accessory Telephoto Lens #119 or #119A as it will give you 50% more working room between you and your subject.

it been at least 4 years since the last time i shoot polaroid(on the transition from impossible to polaroid once again) is sad to see that the chemicals quality hasnt improve at all... seems like polaroid still trying to create new plastic low quality cameras instead of improving they chemicals... cool vid anyways

Great video, can’t wait to get a pack through a SX-70 I recently picked up. When you use the exp comp dial, do you set it to the darker side? In your video, you showed that you might be overexposing by setting the dial into the white side.
@SamsonArnettRoughley
@SamsonArnettRoughley 4 жыл бұрын
thanks ! You move the exposure comp dial 1/3 of a stop to the darker side due to the film being more reactive than the what the meter is accounting for, (iso 100 vs 160) :)

@@SamsonArnettRoughley Old SX-70 was 150ASA, these cameras were modelled for that sensitivity so they actually shoot at 150ASA. When the camera’s properly functioning there isn’t all that much difference in exposure. What I think is happening here, is the glass directly on top of the sensor has corrosion on it, which is very common. This causes it to think there’s less light coming in, so it chooses a longer shutter speed. You can mostly fix it by taking the front off and cleaning the sensor glass with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip, but there may be some left under it which you can’t really do anything about. It should fix it for the most part though and get it closer to original spec. There’s a video dedicated to this by Analogue Resurgence, definitely watch that in its entirety first.

The blown out highlights and yellow cast indicate a bad light meter -- a problem that unfortunately plagues a lot of these cameras as they age. I own several of these and had similar results with one. Believe me, your cameras isn't functioning properly.

For another video use the Polaroid 600 film and use an nod filter for the film packs you’ll end up spending a little less money for film and have more consistent results

If you expect good quality photos you will be disappointed with the SX 70 and the current film stocks. If you like a surprise with every shot the SX 70 can be very entertaining. Kind of like a camera with LSD film! Have fun with it and it’s limitations.

Hi. Could someone tell me if it's possible to change from colour cartridge to a black & white cartridge half way through a cartridge? Will the light get into the remaining film in the cartridge that I have ejected from the camera?
@TheKingsOfCookie
@TheKingsOfCookie 2 жыл бұрын
No you have to use the entire box, I mean you could eject it in TOTAL darkness but you have to insert a new darkslide into the filmbox because the camera will Automatically eject the first frame thinking it’s the darkslide. So it’s „possible“ but I wouldn’t recommend it

sick video dude. i'd recommend getting a new frog tongue for your SX-70, should help to increase contrast a bit as the first few seconds out of camera affect development a bunch. keep up the videos, the youtube algo is bound to pick u up any day

I’ve got a model 1 and personally, I think I’ll do without. Their latest revision, once it comes out, isn’t all that bad with sensitivity after ejecting. You just need to put it in your pocket the second it comes out. You only really see the image become lighter if you hold it out in direct sunlight the entire time it develops.
