The plaintiff alleges that the defendant, a landscaper, brutally slashed her delicate Asiatic lilies with his weed whacker, so she’s suing him for the cost. The defendant claims the plaintiff attacked one of his employees and even threw lilies in his face. He denies they touched her precious flowers.

You can tell by her anger and uncontrolled behavior (trying to talk over the judge, blurting out, "You're a liar!" after the verdict) that she shoved the kid, threw the flower at him, and cussed him out.

Well, she didn't assault the defendant...he's representing the property. No one paid attention to that little tid bit...just out there flapping their gums. 1979 finally a commenter with some sense. I agree with you. She may have overreacted, but it was an unusual case in that the judge took the testimony from a letter/affidavit, which she usually doesn't take very strongly because she says she cannot cross examine the witness. And how the guy couldn't see it was a beautiful flower I do not know.

Jasmine Haywood Obviously it was not about the money. She wanted to face him in court and he was too cowardly to show. The most disgusting thing is that crummy judge taking the word of a letter which she cannot cross examine. She usually points out that she expects witnesses to come to court for that very reason. But in this case she threw the law right out the window as well as this woman's right to sue in court. Kangaroo court. In general Milian is sexist and often does not follow the law.

I am impressed by the restraint- from start to finish- the defendant showed. He was respectful, never interrupted, spoke calmly, had his evidence in order, and really would not say anything bad about the plaintiff- even when given the opportunity. All of which made the plaintiff seem even more, ahem, unreasonable. I don’t know what this woman really wanted- but the seething anger she displayed after she lost the case was SO out of proportion. All of her conduct- during the incident, and during this episode- was way over the top. Issues.

Jane Fielden she wanted him to take responsibility for whacking her flowers. There is no reason to whack flowers. He didn't even come to court. And judge Milian went against her usual lawful response to witnesses who do not appear in court. She usually points out that she cannot cross examine someone who does not appear. In this case she just assumed the woman was guilty of pushing him. That's not following the law. In general Judge Milian is sexist and often does not follow the law. Kangaroo court.

@@fayeldredge3211 it's unusual that JMM didn't enquire why the gardener wasn't there. However she had a police report and text messages containing the testimony of the gardener. Any court room testimony isn't going to be as fresh as that recorded by police minutes after the incident. You're confusing JMM with Judge Judy, who always insists upon the witnesses being there and refuses affidavits.

Elwyn Chow I'm not confused at all. You are right about judge Judy. She rarely will even look at an affidavit or letter. But JMM always discounts letters or affidavits saying she has no way to cross examine the witness because they are not present. But not in this case. And whether or not testimony is fresh is not the subject here...it's whether the testimony is true. This woman was not able to face her accuser.

I was actually curious like how rare are these lilies (I don't garden) so I decided to look them up. They have them in every Home Depot and lowes store near me (Tulsa, OK area) and for a 7-pack of these very rare lilies it only cost a HUGGGGE amount of $16.86. This lady is coco for coconuts

I feel for the poor guy! I once worked as a PCA for a crabby, mean, rich old lady. She fired her gardener on the spot, after being told to pull all weeds...he pulled a tiny lime plant which only had 3 leaves. She threatened his life, screamed and cussed so much I left. Some people feel like there are BETTER than everyone else.

They are beautiful flowers, my favorite, but they are bulbs that bloom year after year . . . unless you yank the bulb out of the ground can you destroy it permanently. Also, they only stay in bloom one to one and a half weeks tops.

People never cease to amaze me. First off...did she get permission from the association/land owner to plant anything? Second....Lilly's grow every year....even "black lilly's" (I checked). If this was the second year this happened, she should have put them in planters and placed on her stoop, away from the area where the landscapers do weed wacking. PAAALLLEEEEAAASSSEE....enough with "God knows and is going to punish you" crap. She's not a squeaky clean angelic being herself. She's obviously a very angry person and lashing out at whoever is in her path. Makes me wonder who hurt her so bad for her to lash out (and she lied too about pushing the landscaper) at another person. Remember that when you point your finger at someone else, there are 3 fingers pointing back at yourself!

If her case wasn't ridiculous and if it was a case where the flowers were planted on her land AND if she wasn't a lazy idiot, maybe she could have gotten more. ie Prove she spent money on a professional gardener or if she could prove time was spent cultivating the flowers...

If she would have been reasonable, she might have gotten compensated by the defendant for the $29 (I think that's what she said) for the whacked lillies without going to court. Just calmly say what you want and don't yell and push people.

When my husband and I moved many years ago, we loved that fact that we had a privacy border of tall plants behind our house. On the day that we moved into it, we looked out the back windows and found that it was gone. My husband spoke to the owners of the house behind ours and they had cut it down because they thought the property didn't belong to anyone. 😔 We knew that it would take years to grow back and life is too short to squabble over something like this. So, my husband decided to till the ground. It ended up being beautiful, furtile ground that made a wonderful vegetable and flower garden.

I find it really irritating that when the Judge reads what the secretary wrote about her throwing the flowers & she shakes her head NO yet the Plaintiff was the FIRST PERSON to bring up the fact that she threw the flowers. 🙄🤦🏽‍♀️

I was curious and looked up these flowers. They’re really rare - so rare that they’re sold at many retailers for $12 and grow every year in just about every climate zone. Super rare. Oh wait that’s common. My bad. Sarcasm intended. Then using God as a threat? Oh that’s lovely, lady. I’m guessing you don’t pay attention during the Sunday sermon. God doesn’t work that way.
