No he's not the main protagonist. He more of a deuteragonist or tritagonist. He remind me of Vegeta or bakugo. He brings a strong competitive start but end up being past. He's even mention it before how he tries to better himself like comparing how Joey speaks japanese better than him. It's brings something out of him.
