The A1 is the UK's longest road, running from London to Edinburgh, almost 400 miles in length (396 miles / 637km), often known as the Great North Road. Most sections have been converted to motorway or dual carriageway, but there are still some lengths of single-carriageway in Scotland and the far north of England.
In Edinburgh City Centre, the A1 runs along broad city streets from the A1/A199 junction near Brunstane Railway Station, to a major junction in the city centre where the A1, A7 and A8 all meet, along with the A900. This junction may become inaccessible to private motor vehicles in the near future.
This video shows a largely southbound journey along the A1, along Willowbrae Road, from the junction with the A1140 at Jock's Lodge, to the junction for Duddingston Road.
