I mean... Midsommar is essentially Beltane I think. It is late because it's cold as hell in Sweden during the spring. So it makes sense that it would rain a lot. Most places in the US spring is the most turbulent time of year with a lot of thunderstorms and rain. But I'm sure since it's still pretty cold where you're from it's just dreary up there.

The scariest part of the movie is not from a scene, but from the IDEA that you would very innocently agree to go along with someone you consider a friend to a foreign country, not at all knowing exactly where they're taking you or what to expect, and then, after arriving, you realize it's a cult out in the middle of nowhere, and there's no way to escape or call for help. Being someone who's traveled overseas to non-touristy areas, that notion really struck me.

The scary thing is when you realise how vulnerable and easily manipulated you are. I felt myself sympathising with the sect sometimes, I felt myself feeling happy for Dani for finding a community, I felt myself jealous over the “solidarity” they had in Hårga, and this is exactly how cults recruit people. How excellently they provided enough information to give you the premise and some of the thriller elements of the film without giving anything away? The way they blended the clips in with the music? I keep coming back to watch the trailer just because the breathing + violin part is such a bop. And, after seeing the movie, being able to watch all the clips flashing through at the end that inexplicably unsettled you when you first watched the trailer and now make sense with context and still unsettle you? I'm Swedish and I would like to formally invite all of you to celebrate midsummer here with us next year. The full years has not passed yet so the next sacrifice is not due for another 85 years, so it's all good. And yes, the sun does not go down during that day, it's bright 24/7.

Nor for me, I cringed at her horrible acting. She just screamed with no emotion. I have never seen anyone cry like that, full screaming.

kirika20 People grieve differently. Some people definitely cry like they’re trying to scream themselves hoarse. It’s all about how you process and make yourself feel better. And no offense, but it seems very close-minded of you to assume that simply because you haven’t observed something, it doesn’t happen.

Me: Will this be scarier than Hereditary? Ari Aster: I was most excited for you to come
@BCC-cc8lz
@BCC-cc8lz 5 жыл бұрын
I read the leaked script and although I won’t spoil it I will say that hereditary is scarier but midsommar is more disturbing. What I mean by that is hereditary had the demonic and haunting elements that invoked fear, whereas this one has more violent scenes that will make you look away from the screen and make you sick to your stomach.

Andres Hernandez but don’t forget that the script isn’t everything. Natalie Portman thought that Black Swan was a ballerina documentary until AFTER she saw the finished product. She didn’t even know while filming!

This is how a horror trailer should be done! Unsettling music, no spoilers, unsettling imagery presented in a creative way, and best of all, NO STUPID JUMPSCARES.

To be honest I think horror movies nowadays should tone down on the jumpscares, and should just focus on goosebumps creeping up your spine.

This movie was amazing! It had loads of little detail and the story was great. Amazing acting to everyone, and also great costume design and gore. Overall, just like Hereditary these quickly became my favorites as they leave a shocking and lasting impression on me.

Bloth Sear I haven’t watched it but I read the leaked script. A24’s horror films never struck me as “scary.” I see them more as artistically disturbing. Midsommar, in my opinion, is just as disturbing, but more gratuitously violent than Hereditary or The Witch. That being said, it’s my favorite work from Ari Aster (so far).

whenever i hear people talking about being terrified while watching a movie or having panic attacks/getting sick, i’ve always thought they were lying. but now i get it. this movie made my whole body feel tense as if i was gonna have a panic attack. absolutely terrified me and i am not the type to get scared by movies like that. this director definitely knows how to make a movie disturbing
