A2A Simulations T-6 Texan! This fantastic vintage military trainer is beautifully recreated by the A2A team, another splendid cornerstone of the aviation industry to join their already formidable line-up.
In this video I get to grips with the T-6, I am not in any way an expert at the aircraft, but in the coming videos I will be exploring its characteristics in greater detail!

Congrats on the 100th video! This one was great as always. Just so you know, when you start a cold aircraft, the colder more viscous oil requires a higher pressure to push it through the lines. Once the engine warms up the oil, it becomes less viscous and therefor requires less pressure. I really enjoy how much time and effort you put into these videos. Keep up the great work!

+101anderman ah yes I remember that from the manual now! good point that makes sense why the pressure was higher initially.

Great video Peter I enjoy your long videos thank you. By the way you walked away from the landing, so it was good enough :) Couple additional edits: Next time maybe let us hear the nice engines by keeping the headphones off until after takeoff? And you forgot to show us the GPS! Military aviation isn't my thing but I enjoy watching others fly and hope A2A come out with another nice twin soon.

Something to keep in mind when priming, you need to continuously pump the manual fuel pressure gauge so there's pressure in the system between every choke :)

The oil can is to drain the oil out of the bottom cylinders so you don’t get too much oil trapped in there while starting the engine and causing the cylinder to blow (hydraulic lock I think it is called). In real life the pilot or whomever would pour the oil that drained into the can back into the engine before flight.

Hi Peter,just a quick note, the "fuel gauge" you pointed at is actually the aerobatic smoke quantity indicator.The actual left fuel gauge is located under the flap handle and the right fuel gauge is located in the same place on the right side of the cockpit

also with the oil pressure, I think it's because of the oil being cold, and probably the pump is trying harder to push the thicker oil around. when it warms it becomes thinner, and it decreases :)

for better visibility try crabing. bank one way and rudder otherway you will then be able to see out the side window to line up. straight out just befor touch down.

+GAZZ Tapio Or just fly a steeper approach. Between that and slipping like you mentioned, those are two common ways warbird pilots do it. Just make sure you land with the wheels going forward and not in a crab.

Thanks for this video. I have to add that the A2A T-6 really does not simulate crosswind landing behavior realistically though, nor do any of the A2A planes to date. There is no equilibrium during cross controlling; the ailerons and rudder have to constantly 'fight' one another instead of being balanced out. As a result, maintaining precise alignment of the longitudinal axis of the aircraft with the runway centerline during a crosswind landing is impossible. Add to this the messed up ground friction behavior inherent in both the FSX and P3D platforms, and the aircraft will slide laterally across the runway during crosswind takeoffs and landings (impossible in real life where rubber tires actually grip asphalt). Basically, turn off the wind altogether if you want any semblance of realistic behavior with this or any other A2A plane. In my experience, only Realair simulation aircraft simulate cross controlling properly in FSX/P3D, and realistically perform forward slips. A2A is simply behind the power curve in this respect and it's sad considering all of their other achievements.

+Ballinger French Interesting, Id love to see what others say about this, If other viewers see this post, please chip in if you have knowledge or expertise in this area!
@ballingerfrench6304
@ballingerfrench6304 8 жыл бұрын
+Peter Matthess My feelings are that A2A put far too much effort into enabling ground looping (a characteristic of the real aircraft) and sacrificed other areas of the flight model. FSX/P3D is always a trade off this way unless you program outside of the sim platform itself - something A2A partially does already. However, the A2A T-6 is just messed up completely with the aforementioned problem of properly modeling cross controlling. I would advise anyone who wants a far more realistic tailwheel simulation to purchase Realair's Decathlon/Scout package for FSX (far cheaper too than A2A's hobbled T-6). Realair aircraft are exponentially more precise and realistic in this respect than anything made by A2A. I really wish A2A would seek more capable talent for their design team, at least in regard to flight modeling. Then again, only Realair has been able to achieve certain flight modeling characteristics that no other developer has ever been able to.

Thats wierd. Something is wrong with your realism settings! It tends to always drop a wing when stalled :D
@PeterMatthess
@PeterMatthess 8 жыл бұрын
That is what wings do when they stall though, they loose lift and begin falling, dragging the rest of the plane over with it

+Peter Matthess Yes i know, but when you held it in a stall it was a little stable i think... (It did not drop a wing) Im not able to do it as well and there was a forum post about this video :)

+Karl-Edvard Tjønndal really? Wow, I thought it was because the wings are similar design concept to the Cherokee where it will not drop a wing in a level stall? It will just wallow.

True, I think these are all fantastic but a twin from A2A is going to put them on another level in terms of GA trainers - and the Twins they can develop off a good twin trainer would be fantastic!
