Following the documentation which comes with the aircraft, we will be taking the plane from it's Cold and Dark state where the plane is completely powered off to a Turnaround state where electrical power has been turned on and the plane is ready to be set up for a flight.

I know you went through setting up the cockpit in this tutorial, one thing i like about the Aerosoft A320 is the co-pilot which does it for you. But for the purpose of the tutorial it's still good to know these things yourself and not rely on the co-pilot.

It's just images made in Photoshop with a transparent background and I kind of "lay" them on top of the video using a video editor.

Great! I see that FSLabs has the better A320, with better simulation of all systems & switches, but it's much worse in graphics. And, as I don't want to practice emergency situations, so I don't need FSL. Aerosoft is perfect for me, and not too complicated for my computer ;) And, I recently done on it my first Vatsim flight!

Hello. I have aerosoft a320 but only problem is it's activating toga lock (auto throttle) with me doing nothing. It's because of fly by wire, but when I turn off fly by wire with right FMC my flight pitch and controls are dead. Any idea how to get rid of auto throttle?

You just turn it on to increase the pressure in the braking system then you can turn it off. Leaving the pump on increases unessecar wear and tear

Hi Craig, unfortunately it's just a graphic I added in video editing. It's not a software addon however I am starting to look into how to make it an addon like that for FSX. It will take some time though.

The checklists and documents normally come as PDF files with an add on aircraft. They should be available in the same computer folder which stores the aircraft's files.

Parking brake needs to be on, the only time it would be off when parked at the gate would be if the brakes were hot.

Chocks stop the aircraft from moving. Brakes engaged requires Hydraulics systems to be pressurised.

Doofer911 I understand that for the purposes of your tutorial that’s quite correct but in the real world the accumulator keeps the system pressurised for use of the parking brake. It contains enough pressure for about 24 hours of use. Planes don’t generally sit around for that period in the real world.

Thank you very much for the videos. I am a software developer and highly interested in Aviation. What I wonder about is that why this much tasks and checks are not done by computers? From the start of using the batteries to turning engines on and other procedure, there are lots of things which can be computerised relatively easily. Why are these things still manually done? Thank you again.

I think if cars become fully autonomous and are proven to be safe, then the next logical step would be aircraft. They pretty much fly themselves nowadays however they still require Pilots to monitor the plane to make sure it's doing what it should be doing at each phase of a flight. Also Public perception will take a long time to change and adjust to the point where they accept that a computer is in FULL control of an aircraft without any input from the Pilot at all.

It's difficult with this aircraft because whatever "state" the aircraft is set to load up as, it'll load that state regardless of the sim's save file. For example, if the plane is set to load as Cold and Dark but you save the sim mid-flight... the next time you load the plane's position will be mid-flight but the aircraft will be cold and dark.

I am using FSX Steam Edition which comes with FSX Acceleration built in. I don't know if Acceleration is needed to work with this aircraft so it's best to check on the Aerosoft website.

Unfortunately Aerosoft's A320 for FSX is much better than their A320 for Aerofly FS2 which is their own flight sim. I'm starting to regret buying AeroFly and wishing I had bought FSX! Can you still buy FSX as a stand alone product, or is it only available through Steam?

I think if you look hard enough you could find some original FSX boxed versions out and about. Steam Edition is a little better as it's been slightly optimised compared to the boxed version. Unfortunately FSX is quite an old piece of software now and it was never designed to work on 64bit computers and take advantage of modern computing power so you might be better holding out for Microsoft's new flight sim (Flight Sim 2020). Alternatively, there is Prepar3D (P3D) which is an evolution of FSX made by Lockheed Martin. And there's also X-Plane 11 which is another popular flight sim.

You have to pay for it. The best place to buy it would be from the Aerosoft website, the company that developed the plane.

How can the APU generator work without switching on the APU

It can't. The aircraft can still get electrical power from the on board batteries or by having an external GPU (Ground Power Unit) plugged into the aircraft.

Is it ok if you don't turn on the APU right away after you turn on the External Power? I'm just asking because in other tutorial they turn on APU right after they turn on the external power and the battery.

Yes it is. The APU is a mini jet engine which burns fuel stored in the aircraft so I'm sure that airline companies would prefer to limit how long APUs run because it's burning extra fuel and costing more money. All the electrical power that an APU provides can also be provided by a ground power unit.

Hi, I have the same A320 aircraft for my P3D V4 flight sim; and I'm having an issue with my planes during take off. After I am off the ground and flying my aircraft starts to shake descend and I can not control it after that. What may the issue be besides me not knowing anything about this plane

Is the aircraft stalling after takeoff? Where it loses speed and then drops out of the sky? As for the checklists, there's some PDF documentation which comes with this aircraft but the checklists I use in these videos are my own procedures. The popups on the screen are not part of the add on. They've been added in during video editing.

That'll be the Ground Power Unit (Generator) outside the plane.

This was an older version of the Aerosoft airbus which allowed it. They changed it in their latest version

On the right MCDU under the Aircraft State menu, I've set the aircraft to start in the "Cold and Dark" state, click the button on the right side of that page to set the plane to use that state every time it starts.
