I am an American who loves civil aviation. I admire Boeing aircraft greatly but I have an equal admiration for Airbus products. I don't see a need to bad-mouth either brand while favoring one. The A350-900 is beautiful. Good luck on your success. I hope to fly in one soon. By the way, I am proud of French security forces for their quick and effective responses to the Paris terrorists of 2015-01-08. Nous sommes Charlie Hebdo. Nous sommes tous Francais.

A fellow yank who is plane crazy, my preference has always been Boeing aircraft, but I have been fortunate to travel on the A-380 on a trip to Australia and that is one amazing aircraft. Haven't traveled on any other airbus widebody as of yet.

+Who's Your Daddy ?? Fair perspective from an aviation fan. But from a pilot's perspective, generally it is one-sided. This is because the Boeing and Airbus philosophy are opposing. Boeing puts the Pilots in a less inhibited position of authority over the airplane, while Airbus actually discourages manual flying. Airbus feels that automation is safer and more efficient. Airbus pilots do very little manual flying. Personally, I'll take a Boeing, (or any aircraft with a yoke) over an Airbus any day.
@tanshaomala
@tanshaomala 8 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Switzer That's not really true, speaking as a pilot on the 330 and now training on the 350, I can tell you that nowhere in the manuals do Airbus discourage manual flying, nor do they state that automation is safer and more more efficient, in fact one of the Airbus golden rules is to take over control if the automation is not working as planned. Airbus simply has a lot of protections in normal law which cannot be overridden (but then again they can be if you put it in alternate law). As for your point that Airbus pilots do very little manual flying....not wrong, but not correct. These days it doesn't matter what you fly, the autopilot comes on fairly quickly. If you want real flying, commercial aviation isn't the path you should be looking at. Even then it depends on the crew, I've seen some guys engage the autopilot after takeoff and others hand fly until 10,000 feet. Point is, modern aeroplanes are all computers, be it Boeing or Airbus. At the end of the day you can say one is better than the other, but then it will be purely a matter of opinion.

@airplaneflyerguy5261 8 жыл бұрын
+tanshaomala very true on all points. Maybe it depends on the airline? I was told all that by a retired 320 captain at a southeast Asian carrier. I fly for an American 135 operation in that area, but cannot speak for the Airbus. We generally fly manually below 10k

i have flown in the a350 several times with Finnair, plane is delightful, quiet and comfortable even in cattle class. Except one instance when Finnair left me stranded in Helsinky due to late takeoff from Bangkok and left me freeze in minus 20 degree in front of the airport, waiting for a bus to take me to the hotel in my Phuket outfit. Thumbs up. All forgotten, Finnair. I fly with you any time

Welcome to my country. That wasn't a really cold day in Iqaluit. Take it down another 25 or 30 degrees, then it's cold. That kind of cold can distract you or sneak up on you. You have to keep it in mind constantly. If you don't, the price is body parts.

Its a extremely difficult job routine if you are a test pilot or flight test engineer who is performing his duties in some of the coldest & most unforgiving environment ....hats off to these guys ...and last but not the least to the aircraft mechanics who perform their duties without getting scared of killer cold climatic conditions...I am interested to become a Transport Canada Licensed Aircraft Mechanic in near future...but I need to first know the realism of actual job conditions that I may face if I am told to carry out my duties in one of the coldest & one of the most harsh regions of Canada.....This is the best example for any body who aspiring to become a aircraft mechanic & looks towards this job as just a luxury...& passion.....this video will definitely make you taste the bitter side of the job...and wake you up from your dreams.....guys be prepared to face the worst if you really have a passion to become a aircraft mechanic....

It's funny watching the commentators fighting over here about Boeing and Airbus as if they personally know these companies and all the things that they do. Regardless of their business rivalary, I am sure they work very closely together on many aspects of aviation such as security, safety and even design. Both of them are great aviation companies that have taken human flight to the next level.

I LOVE this plane! It will definitely overtake the 787. It's going to be a high selling plane once it comes out.
@cwehbe
@cwehbe 10 жыл бұрын
Not really. As nice as this is, the 787 is far more advanced than this. This plane is only 30% composite, the 787 is about 60% made of composites enabling lighter weight, better fuel economy, quieter with larger windows. I also think that Boeing has a far larger network of support giving airlines a bigger reason to buy the 787.
@techdefined9420
@techdefined9420 10 жыл бұрын
bluesky You have no idea what you are talking about. The 787 has a composite content of 50% while the A350 53%. Btw the TrentXWB engines are the most advanced as well as the cockpit of the A350. The A350 also features larger windows.
@cwehbe
@cwehbe 10 жыл бұрын
techdefined No no man, it's the other way around, I looked to reconfirm. The Boeing has more composite material, and will have the largest windows in the civil aviation industry. As to the engines, I don't know the exact tech specs, but looking at some feature, the GE engine will produce less CO2 emissions, and put out more power per JetA used, though there may be more there that I haven't looked up about the RR which also look good.
@techdefined9420
@techdefined9420 10 жыл бұрын
bluesky Sorry that's crap. The A350 has a content of 53% composites because it came after the 787. The 787 has large vertical windows but not as as wide as the A350 one's. That has to do how the sections are made and the stress on them. 787 is made of barrels of CFRP while the A350 of shells. The TrentXWB is the newest Rollce Royce triple spool engine and is by far the most efficient widebody engine in the world. Please do some research.
@cwehbe
@cwehbe 10 жыл бұрын
techdefined You're actually right man. My bad, I was looking at the tech tables and had them reversed. The A350 is 53% composite as opposed to 50% with 787. But that 3% isn't making a difference in performance since beyond that the planes are practically identical in performance, fuel usage, CO2 emission... I'll take either for free.

When everybody uses the english language are all planes ready to understand what is going on. Everybody knows where anybody is and can react if there is anything wrong. The Multi language bullshit is dangerous. And i am from Germany, i had to learn egnlish first, too!!!!!
