+Steven Moosa True, nearly endless of workhours each day, and no "major" benefits like you've probably heard of before, like free travel? Nope, there has to be an unocupied seat for you to fly free, atleast in Norwegian and SAS, dunno about Emirates, probs the same.. And not to forget that you have to get up sht early in the morning. But then again, ask pilots why and you'll get the same answer everytime.. Because they love to fly :)

As a pilot, she has to speak in english. Emirates didn't ask her to learn arabic, still Lufthansa undisputedly asks foreign pilots to learn german. Where's the equality in here!

Motaz Azzouz Every airline has the right to ask their pilots to have certain abilities other than flying.They pay their salaries. If the Emirates chose not to make the demand that their foreign pilots do not have to speak Arabic that is their choice. Obviously it is a matter of pride to you as an Arab person. If it bothers you that much you have to communicate this with the Emirates Airline. I have seen in this medium accounts of American airline pilots learning Chinese to fly in China. It takes a while to learn a foreign language.

After the united incident i quit dreaming on them. This one boy in the UAE named Adam wanted to become a Etihad pilot. He made me like the A380 and also the middle Eastern airline Emirates. Im in the U.S im 12 i rlly want to talk to a emirates captain next summer when go to kenya on a Emirates plane. IVE never been on Emirates. I also want to work for Emirates.

Francis199711 hey man, look, ever since i was six i always dreamt of being a pilot, and now me being 18, i am definitely working hard towards it, i have to start from scratch, i am myself in the same position as you, my plan is to hopefully work for around 4 years, saving up for it, i do highly suggest getting your training in the US as it is the cheapest place to do so :) just pray man, hoefully you and i end up pilots inshallah :)

when does a First Officer become a Captain?

lenny108 it depends on the aircraft you will be captain of, for instance to be a CAPT on a narrow-body airplane like 737-800 & 320-200 it’s 4000 hours But for wide-body airplane like A380 & B777 you need 7000 hours, and by the way all Emirates fleet is wide body and they require 7000 hours for captains recruitment and 2000 hours for first officer recruitment :)

Doch mein Problem ist: Ich möchte in Deutschland bleiben und nicht nach Dubai ziehen. Also ist es möglich, dass ich von Deutschland aus als Pilot für Emirates arbeite?

The fastest course in the world is in California. There it takes 18 months for you to qualify. After that, job interviews...and so on

Tamoor Shah My pleasure. And I forgot to tell you that a commercial pilots license is very expensive. So make sure you get financial support aswell

That is so not true. Stop spreading wrong information for aspiring pilots. It takes in general 18 month from 0 to fully trained Commercial pilot with instrument rating, Multiengine and MCC. In order to become an Emirates pilot though, you will have to have quiet a lot of flight experience. I believe for a first officer it was about 3000 h total time, but not to sure about that.

There'll be plenty of spots :) .. Emirates Boeing 777 and Airbus 380 fleet is growing too fast that can't find enough pilots for them, especially when you consider they need 16 Pilots for each Aircraft...

Frage: Warum fliegst du als Deutsche nicht bei der Lufthansa? "Die Pilotenvereinigung Cockpit hat versucht mir einen sicheren Job bei der Lufthansa zu ermöglichen. Vor allem kämpft sie dafür, dass junge Piloten wie ich früher in den Ruhestand ausscheiden kann, da die körperliche Belastung wie bspl. erhöhte Strahlung nicht zu unterschätzen ist. Hat leider alles nichts gebracht...und bevor ich gar nicht fliege, Arbeitslosengeld beziehen muss oder gar bei Air Berlin anfangen müsste, ging ich halt notgedrungenermaßen zu Emirates. Keine Gewerkschaften, keine Rechte, eine Frau ist bei Arabern besonders "billig"; aber hey...ich darf wenigstens einen nagelneuen Airbus A380 fliegen." Vorsicht, Ironie und Sarkasmus. ;-)

Also ich als Deutscher könnte mir auch vorstellen, mich bei Emirates oder vielleicht auch bei Qatar Airways zu bewerben. Klar, für die Lufthansa zu arbeiten wäre auch schön, aber am Ende möchte ich nicht bei Eurowings landen oder so. Zu dem hat Emirates und Qatar Airways, in meinen Augen, eine Flotte mit besseren Flugzeugen als Lufthansa.
