The AA-12 Auto Shotgun is very unique and different than other Auto Shotguns. Doesn't mean the AA-12 is better than the Saiga, but I will say has next to NO RECOIL(equivalent to an AR-15). There're only about 115 AA-12's in the WORLD....So hope you all appreciate this video.

Another big difference without taking fees and taxes into effect, the Saiga 12 costs about $700 while the AA-12 costs about $3000. Kind of a big difference. The Saiga is also easier to load. The AA-12 has that track you have to slide into. Of course it is hard to beat shooting a 12ga with almost no recoil even if it costs more.

When the AA-12 first came out, I heard several "unsubstantiated" rumors about it only being able to fire certain types of loads. One of the craziest I heard was that if you wanted to use buckshot, the pellets had to be made from steel. Supposedly lead buckshot was too heavy to cycle. I read another rumor that the AA-12 could not be used for extended periods with full-power or magnum loads due to the recoil reduction system not being robust enough to handle the stress. The last thing that I heard was that the military rejected the design because of its fragile nature. This is why very few exist. Otherwise, you would think that every military squad or S.W.A.T. team would be issued at least one. If it worked like the design promised, what could possibly be a better weapon for the point-man in a CQB or house clearing scenario. Is all of this total B.S.?

In the end, pump action is mechanically more reliable. Less moving parts. I think the trade off is power versus consistency. If you want to be consistent with the power of a 12 gauge, you have to sacrifice complex engineering for simple mechanics.

Zsavage1 Most of the demonstrations I've seen imply that they are using 00 buck. I also know that the few people who have actually fired these weapons and been asked about recoil comparisons with the USAS (another very low recoil auto shotgun) have said that the AA-12 doesn't have low recoil, it almost doesn't have any recoil as far as they are concerned, and it's also lighter than most high capacity auto shotguns. It's a beast.

zan cz As it is, the US Military is very resistant to full introduction of the AA12 to combat troops (likely will never be ordered in large numbers) despite overwhelmingly positive feedback from the Army and Marine units who were given these weapons in Iraq and Afganistan in the combat evaluations program. The reason? The military brass thinks that it's rate of fire is too high and will result in men burning through ammo too quickly despite the evaluation units not finding this to be a problem (they used it for breaching, CQC, laying cover fire, and rapid firing of shotgun fired mini-grenades to give extra grenadier ability to fireteams, and found the weapon to be highly effective at everything they threw it at and also found that it lived up to it's billing for being rugged and highly resistant to jamming and corrosion).

22steve5150 I don't fully understand why military doesn't use aa12.. Im aware the fact that it also serves as a granade launcher as well which give this weapon a Massive range than Shotgun Warfare.. Maybe it's the Cost VS shotgun Warfare concept they believe in and they have all kinds of other nade launchers so bringing aa12 in just for that role doesn't monumentally change anything?? I don't know agreed with the ammo burning due to only fully auto mode.. Where saiga is better for Single shot and probably a lot cheaper to do just shot gun job..

The Saiga, as you said has a similar design as an AK. The stock design itself is a lot of the reason for the muzzle climb. The AA-12 as a straighter stak similar to the M-16, the straight stalk keeps the muzzle climb to a minimum.

both are gas operated, open bolt means when trigger is not being pulled bolt is locked open, when you pull the trigger the bolt closes chambering a round then firing it, when trigger is released bolt again locks open with no round in the chamber. on a closed bolt system bolt is closed with a round in the chamber when you pull the trigger the round is fired and bolt opens ejecting the round, then closes chambering a new round, on an automatic repeats till trigger release when bolt closes chambering a live round. in machine guns when you are going to be firing lots of ammo, like belt fed guns open bolt design is prefered as chamber can get hot enough to fire off ammo when this happens on a closed bolt system weapon will continue to fire even after trigger is released.

If you make your saiga 12 13 lbs it would be a more reasonable comparison. Also you'd need a rate reducer to even the comparison. You could duct tape two S12s in the configuration you showed together and be about the same weight as the AA12. Also it is always wierd to me that few of the people showing FA S12s do the demonstration with a good comp on there. There are lots of good choices and they make the gun easy to hold on target for the addition of only a few ounces. See here: Saiga 12 full auto.mp4 Nonetheless, thanks for the vid.

Saiga looks just more brutal and hardcore. Like a gun for a real Man. And AA12 feels like a rare military weapon idk said some bullshit.. So, if I'd have a choice, i'd pick saiga. Really, everyone is like "wow aa12 low recoil bla bla bla" Dude both guns are incredibly powerful and both can kill anyone by one bullet. So i think its just a person preference.

Benefits of the S12 _Faster Fire Rate_ - Yes it wanders more... doesnt mean you have to hold the damn trigger down. As with any high rate of fire machine gun, 3-5 round burst are optimum. The military teaches you this... Why waste ammo? _More Design Configurations_ The S12 is as modifiable as the Ak47... From Stock to internals, you can pick and chose what you want it to do. 20+ inch barrel with custom springs and a sweet sporter stock? Sure! Chopped down, Dracco style snub nose pistol? Sure! Super Tricked out "Tacticool" with 20 attachments? SURE! Can you do that with the AA12? Nope... not at all. _Actually Used By Military and Law Enforcement_ Yep... Thats right! The S12 is standard issue combat shotgun for the Russian Special Police(Like SWAT) and Spetsaz(Like Special Forces). The AA12 on the other hand has never been deployed, as far as we know. Possibly for some testing, but in extremely limited numbers. ---------- Let me say something else about the fire rate of the AA12... 300 rounds per min is only 5 rounds per second... Thats extremely slow... Like, the average paintball player can pull the trigger that fast. In fact, to activate "ramp mode" that is a version of "full auto" in tournaments you have to pull the trigger about that fast. So in saying that... Lets see a comparative test, pull the trigger on the S12 that fast... Lets see how much muzzle wander there is then... And allllsoooo... the S12 isnt normally full auto, its convertible to... but its not even used in combat situations as full auto, just semi. Why? BECUASE ITS A 12 GAUGE AND NOBODY NEEDS TO FIRE A 12 GAGE LIKE THAT... lol I mean really "Boom boom boom" there goes almost 30 .30 caliber rounds hurling at what ever you were shooting at... Thats like firing a whole mag of (less powerful) AK47. Again, why waste ammo? In a logical combat loadout, you would have a 12 round drum, maybe a backup drum, and possibly four or five, 5 to 10 round mags as backups. Again, we are talking about a 12 gauge.... The rounds are large and heavy... But then you want to dump a 16lb weapon(fully loaded AA12; in comparison the S12 is about 10-12lbs) in the mix? Good luck. Basically... AA12 < S12 in almost every way but recoil... and thats just a novelty. *THAT* is the reason no military/LEO in the *WORLD* wants to use it. Though, its going to be hard for the S12 to compare in actual performance and "tried and true" ideology that people have of the Remington 870 or the Benelli 1014, which are the most employed shotguns for combat/policing roles in the world.

Well... i just realized that there is 1 good use for an AA12, and thats in Unmanned Vehicles, like large Copter or Ground Based drones. They are becoming more popular so i would figure the AA12 with its slow rate of fire and reduced recoil would be good... That way they dont waste ammo and it doesnt knock the thing over when it fires rapidly. Shrug.
@elicantwell
@elicantwell 9 жыл бұрын
I agree. And I just realised he said "and theirs only around 115 AA-12s i the world" to make the gun sound like a novelty, when it's probably just an unsuccessful assault shotgun and police/special forces haven't been interested. Plus, a robber ain't gunna be scared if you came up on them with an AA-12 xD i mean fuck, even the metal guard thats around the grip makes it look like it should have a co2 canister hooked up to it and it should be firing paint. Come up on them with a saiga on the other hand...
@Kiba69420
@Kiba69420 9 жыл бұрын
Eli Cantwell The AA12 is just the newest revision of the USAS12, and nobody wanted that one either... They had a hard time finding a manufacturing company to even make the ones they made (USAS), Daewoo eventually picked it up but only made a few. The AA12 has never seen combat, except in maybe small trials or with some special forces individual, but never in any military/LEO or even PSG in the world as an issued weapon. The Saiga12 on the other hand is Russias standard issue combat/policing shotgun. Its full auto rate of fire is 600 and has the capability to furnish all the AK style tactical attachments and upgrades. Though, they dont use them as full auto and are not even manufactured to be full auto. But... make damn fine full auto shotguns.
@elicantwell
@elicantwell 9 жыл бұрын
Obeyance DeKat I guess having full auto on an S12 is a novelty, however it is completely unpractical as you easily get more accuracy and control with semi auto and with training you could also shoot 3-5 round bursts with semi auto roughly around the same speed as auto. Plus, deciding to shoot more than that amount of rounds at one target consecutively is a bit excessive. I guess one of the perks of the AA-12 is that it would be good for maybe taking out a group of targets, or multiple targets, while also laying down supressive fire. But S12s are a all-round better gun by far.
@leonardotavaresdardenne9955
@leonardotavaresdardenne9955 9 жыл бұрын
Obeyance DeKat 2 of your points don't make that much sense. Why would you need a shottie firing at more then 300 rounds a minute? The hole point of that rate of fire is so that you don't waste your ammo too much and so that the recoil is still controlable. And because the russian police uses a .50 caliber bullpup assault rifle, does that mean I should do it? Also, I think the AA12 is full auto because it would give people with slow trigger fingers (me) a better suppression potencial. The fact that a gun isin't issued dosen't mean it sucks, the fact that it is dosen't mean it's great (see M16)

Both of the shotguns have great advantages and great disadvantages over each other. The aa12 (as said in the video) has almost no recoil (although it kind of tends to nudge down), while the Saiga12k has plenty of recoil. But, the Saiga12k costs less, and is also more mobile and small and can still get the job done well.
