The movie story is about Nisha an orphaned child who has been adopted by her relatives and raised alongside her cousin, Indu. As both cousins enter their 20s, Indu falls in love with the rich and good-looking Kabir However, Kabir takes a liking to Nisha and to the dismay of Indu, marries Nisha, wanting an obedient and socially accepted wife molding to the traditional conservative norms as Nisha constrained to, compared to Indu, who was liberal and progressive in her views and behavior. After marriage, all seems well in the life of Nisha and Kabir and soon, Nisha becomes pregnant. Meanwhile, a happy Nisha is oblivious to Kabir's affairs and dalliance with several women, on the pretext of business trips.
Nisha's pregnancy is deemed as a complication by her doctor and upon the insistence of Indu's mother, Indu moves into Nisha and Kabir's home to take care of her. As Nisha becomes restricted in her daily activities, Indu gets closer to Kabir and engages in an extramarital affair with him, reviving her erstwhile attraction to him. Oblivious to these new changes, Nisha continues with her life and eventually delivers a girl. Upon return and realizing the affair between her husband and cousin, she is shattered and confronts Kabir and Indu. Kabir resists and refuses to end his affair and asks her to adjust to this change. Nisha refuses and leaves the house, handing her daughter's responsibilities to their house maid.
In the new male-dominated world, Nisha struggles and meets with Alok. They quickly become friends and Alok develops feelings towards Nisha; but Nisha remains focused on her work and succeeds as an author detailing her life struggles and the fight against it. On the other side, the relationship between Kabir and Indu remains stagnant, with their financial situation worsening and circumstances making them realize their mistakes. As Nisha and Kabir's daughter becomes of married age, a worried Kabir is unsure how he would afford such an alliance, but Nisha comes and rescues Kabir by selling him her publishing rights henceforth and forwarding the royalties to her marriage and life. Kabir apologizes for whatever happened and repents deeply, leaving Nisha to comment that she has moved on from her life and does not want her daughter to know her identity and the pain she might endure knowing her mother's fate. As their daughter is married, Alok meets with Nisha and tells her that it’s time for them to officiate their relation.

As a woman I found one public derogatory comment about the immensely talented, breathtakingly beautiful and superb actresses Smita Patil, was totally inappropriate and highly offensive. Some misogynist labelling a female actress as a home wrecker. I noted it, takes two to Tango but only the female was singled out and put the burden of blame squarely on her head. Whatever the truth was, it is none of our business what they do in their private lives. This forum should not be used to attack any actors on their private personal lives. We are all humans with our weaknesses, imperfections and skeletons hidden in the cupboards. We are here discussing the merits of films, fictional characters portrayed and how much enjoyment we have had and lessons learnt from these films. We outsiders do not know any specific circumstances about any of the gossips magazines prints to create controversy and to increase their sales. Why can’t people be content to enjoy the beauty of these priceless master piece, those dedicated actors created for us all to enjoy and give them thanks and respect they deserve. It is just shameful some resort to character assassination of individuals who could not defend themselves.

A much suffered innocent woman , betrayed, depressed and dejected in life could speak only through her tears. A kind hearted man trying his best to console and instill hope in her to view adverse things courageously and face the world. His encouraging song is like an oasis in the desert to her. 😭😭❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻जय श्री कृष्ण क्या फिल्म है पूरी फिल्म देखकर रोते ही रह गए। मेरी मां ने जब यह फिल्म देखी थी तो इतनी ज्यादा प्रशंसा की थी कि मैं बता नहीं सकती हूं और आज इस फिल्म को देख पाई। फिल्म का शीर्षक प्रश्न वाचक बनकर रह गया है, पर उत्तर हर इंसान की अपनी सोच पर निर्भर करती है। सारे गीतों ने बहुत अच्छी पकड़ बनाई है पर एक अंधेरा लाख सितारे के बोल दिल में उतरते चले गए। मैंने एक कहानी लिखी थी पतझड़ जो मेरी मासी के जीवन पर आधारित थी पर उसके अंतिम के बहुत अधिक पन्ने फट गए थे सो कहानी अपने सही उद्देश्य को प्राप्त नहीं कर पाई थी हालांकि वर्तमान समय में किसी तरह से मैंने उसे पूरा कर दिया था। ऐसा नहीं है कि यह कहानी कल की है शादी के बाद बहुत से पति-पत्नी में ऐसी कहानियां आपको देखने को मिल जाएंगी।पर हर बार खून तो नारी के प्रेम का ही होता है। स्मिता जी ने अविस्मरणीय भूमिका निभाई है और हद से अधिक सुंदर भी लगी हैं, मात्र इकतीस वर्ष की उम्र में उन्होंने यह दुनिया छोड़ दी, उनकी कमी हमेशा खलती है। पहली भारतीय अभिनेत्री जिन्हें उनके सांवले रंग की वजह से हद से अधिक दर्शकों का प्यार सम्मान और इज्ज़त मिला। आवाज तो बेमिसाल है।माना कि कहानी में अंत में शादी हो जा रही है किन्तु वह जीवन भर किसी न किसी रूप में अपने पहले पति से ही प्यार करती रही और उनके शब्द, शब्दों की आग एक ही इंसान के लिए रही।औरत यही हार जाती है और शायद यह हार उसकी सबसे बड़ी जीत भी बन जाती है। पुरुष पत्नी को उनकी कमियों के लिए छोड़ते हैं और स्त्री उन्हें समझौते के रिश्ते से आजाद करने के लिए हमेशा के लिए उनका दामन छोड़ देती है। फिल्म के सारे कलाकारों को हृदय से वंदन। यू ट्यूब को भी धन्यवाद देना चाहूंगी जो हम जैसी महिलाओं को इतनी अच्छी सौगात बिना घर से बाहर निकले देते हैं। जय श्री कृष्ण 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️

Arjun's sacrifice could have saved many lives, including Bhisma Pitamah and Dronacharya, lost in the Mahabharata war. In fact, he gave this argument to Shri Krishna to avoid his duty and Karma for the truth and what was right. However, Shri Krishna clarified it's his attachment which is causing him to avoid the right action. Ultimately, Arjun was convinced by Shri Krishna to fight the war.
