That move by Judge was so ridiculous, i cant believe the umps missed it. This reminded me of the Arod play from about 20 years ago, i think it was in the ALCS against the Red Sox when he was running to 1st and Arroyo attempts to tag him out and Arod literally karate chops the ball out of Arroyos glove. The umps got together and correctly called Arod out.

Hand was raised prior to the throw,it is the fielders job to throw around the runner if the runner is in the base path, as Judge was here. What it looks like to me is that Judge intended to distract the second basemen, not interfere with the ball. The second basemen tends to move out of the basepath to throw around a player running toward him, the chances of the ball making contact with the mitt 6 inches wide are slim, but happened. I would also think Judge would know he is out already, and touching the ball wouldn't change that. So, to take a chance that the call would go his way seem unlikely. So why bother making that move when it wouldn't change the outcome unless the umps sided with him, which he wouldn't have known.

Not really. It ignores the actual rules. Judge was in the base path, it is not the runners responsibility to keep the pase path open for the fielder to throw the all through. And, importantly, Judge was sliding with his hand raised (his standard slide) BEFORE Adams's threw the ball. The responsibility to find a clear throwing lane falls to the fielder. If the throw was made and Judge extended his hand to touch the ball, then it would be interference.

He slides like this into second base literally every time. It's not a one-off. Whether it's a legal action all the other times may be up for debate, but this is not a freak incident. Any baserunner has to raise an arm to help balance going into the foot first slide, he's very tall, and he clearly also raises his arm in a way that may force the SS or 2B to throw around him. He's done this for what appears to be his entire career and finally got a big payoff.

It was on purpose. Everyone acts like Judge is this great person but he seems like a douchebag to me. That was a shitty thing to do, should’ve been called interference. Maybe a rule will be changed after this.

You're going online to insult a stranger and you think sliding with hand up means Judge is a bad person?

Ofcourse it was on purpose. If I'm the Brewers 2nd baseman, I'd tell Judge next time it's you'll block the throw with your head.

Watch Judge do slides in other games. He does it every time he slides feet first into a base. Every single time.

what if he trained himself to do it every time exactly for moments like this? i dont mind a bit of a mental game, so im not hating.... but to just pass it off as coincidence is just naïve to me.
