I seen him and he's brother's in a club on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, LA. Bless you Aaron, cause these prisoners need saving, love you, brother. Keep up the good work for Jesus 🙏💕

03/01/23 Heartbreaking to watch all those men incarcerated in what is suppose to be the toughest prison in America. I am all for forgiveness and resemption. Can't count on government or state government to implement schools inside prison to teach skills to these man...they rehabilitate inside prison but when they step out...what skills do they have? As a society we must do better hold governments accountable. BLESSINGS TO ALL MANKIND. And oh yes...love me some Aaron voice. ❤️

Can somebody explain me, a European, why this prison is called Angola?

I suspect the name dates back to the time of slavery. Angola is a country in Africa and most if not all of the slaves were Black. Probably dates back to the days when the prison doubled as a plantation. Not sure on this but I've heard a few rumors on this.

Okay, I just researched that a bit. I've wondered on the name. Most of the slaves came from Angola in Africa, and it was actually a former plantation. Here's the Wikipedia page on the prison. The place has been around a LONG time! A few famous people have been incarcerated there too, including the blues singer Ledbelly (Huddie Ledbetter) who sang himself out of the lockup at least a couple of time. It got its name from the name of the home country of the slaves that were there when it was a plantation. Most of the slaves came from Angola.
