Thanks for sharing this insightful interview. Along w/ his friend Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks is one of my favorite 21st Century leader/composer/instrumentalists. His album 'invisible Cinema' is a post modern Jazz Classic. I love Kurt's playing, but I'm also happy for the unfortunate events that prevented him from being a part of that album. Because Mike Moreno did an impeccable job, and iI believe his sense of understatement and textural approach when playing within the rhythm section worked not only as a perfect fit to the Quartet's sound but also made the guitar even more effective as an instrument in the ensemble because the stellar guitar solos stood out in brilliant contrast to the comping parts. MM's guitar emerge to the spotlight at the right moments, in the right way.
