Deep down Robert knew it happened I think part of him didn't want it to be true subconsciously he didn't want to believe Aaron got hurt that much..... X x x x

This is a classic example of what abusers do, they manipulate the situation to make the victim doubt themselves and for others to doubt them too. Remember, Robert confronted Gordon the night before which gave Gordon plenty of opportunity to come up with something to make it look like Aaron had it all wrong. Also, Gordon slipped up, he said to Robert nothing happened to Aaron then said to Aaron that something did happen, he contradicted himself but still left himself out of both situations so that both Robert and Aaron doubt themselves and each other. It's horrible, but it's a common thing most victims go through and makes abusers like Gordon so much more powerful. The NSPCC is working closesly with Emmerdale during this storyline so I really don't think Aaron would be going through 'false memory syndrome' that Gordon said he had, it's just one of his lies. Rape is a horrible situation that needs to be dealt with properly and it is not the right storyline for a condition like false memory syndrome to be bought into.

+Sammy Sam If Gordon was innocent and cares for his son so much, he wouldn't be speeding out of town before Robert and Aaron get a plan going.

Exactly. I understand what Emmerdale were trying to show in this episode (made me feel extremely uncomfortable) but unfortunely, victims of any kind of abuse are doubted, even by people closest to them and they were trying to show just how much abusers have the power to manipulate people and how much they can twist things around to make the victim look worst. One thing I just wished that Emmerdale had done was to not make the viewers doubt Aaron as well.

Sammy Sam The well documented records of sexually abused women and girls who hesitate to come forward are legion. Among the reasons they won't come forward is the defense lawyer who will plant doubt in everybody's mind, and also the having to relive the trauma and possibly get PTSD.

Wow, Gordon is a piece of work. When you can manipulate Robert, you know you're a pro. I can't even blame Robert for falling for it. I don't think he doubted Aaron because he didn't believe him. I think it's because he'd rather believe[hope] that there was some other explanation than have to accept that it actually happened to someone he loved. Then there Gordon goes manipulating Chas, which isn't hard because she's already been acting incredibly selfish and immature, and now poor Aaron is going to be feeling guilty on top of the fact that Gordon is trying to manipulate him too. "Yeah, I know something happened to you but it wasn't me and I'm here for you when you need me." So disgusting. I really have to give Emmerdale props for keeping everything realistic and raw. This is the sad reality of most victims of abuse. The abuser isolates them, makes them doubt themselves and gets others to doubt them to make them feel even more alone, all the while protecting him/herself.

Basically everything Gordon had said and done in this episode is classic behaviour of an abuser! They don't think that what they had done is wrong...it's like one of those sayings, where it implies the insane always think that they're actually sane! It's terrifying!!! And the fact they try to manipulate and brainwash the victim into thinking that they're the ones going mad. I don't see how Aaron could lie about any of this. The way he explained the details to Robert and how he knew the exact age he was, why it had happened etc. The show has also involved the NSPCC and did a lot of research into this sensitive subject. I think it would be extremely distasteful and pointless if the show was to make Aaron to be the liar. It's so upsetting how victims can get brainwashed or think that it's their fault what happened to them. So sad!

Well I for one hope there is an explanation to what happen, this could be a great story-line. I want something different for Brendan and Holly Oaks

Gordon admits that Aaron is telling the truth about being assaulted when he says that what happened to Aaron was unspeakable. Anything after that admission is an attempt at an excuse or rationale. I'm fascinated to see where the writers are going with this - up to now they've been pretty good at integrating, and making consistent, several varied storylines. I just hope they don't give Gordon a plausible way to avoid responsibility for the damage obviously done to Aaron.

surprised robert, the biggest lier in emmerdale believes the first thing that comes out a stranger's mouth to question his lover... Loving the new robert he has truely evolved i think its as victoria said, now tht they dont have to sneak around they have a better chance. his expression at 0.51 and through out the most recent clips shows that his defenses are down and he is ready to truely love and devote himself to aaron. lets see how it goes

I can't think of a reason why Aaron would even think t make something like that up. So I believe him too. And Gordon did say that "what happened to you was horrible" so he's saying it happened, but that it wasn't him? Is he just trying to confuse Aaron? But ever since the reveal I kept thinking back: when Aaron first arrived in ED and he had problem with Chas they did ask Gordon to take him back and I don't remember Aaron protesting it much? How are the authors gonna solve this? Like Aaron was so scared he didn't know what to do and coundn't tell Chas?

Gordon is a manipulator and knows his son well. Unfortunately false memories have been proven to exist so now we are beginning to doubt Aaron. But I think we now have the storyline for the next few months: Did he or didn't he.

Did i see Aaron himself self-doubting about what actually happened/actually never happen after he talked to Gordon?Gordon sure as hell has confused Aaron for a split second.Probably Gordon will try to brainwash him if Aaron decides to go see him.I hope Robert stays strong for Aaron and not fall for the lies of that despicable son of a bitch Gordon again. When did Robert became sap and stupid???
