Aaron Rosand is a phenomenal violinist. His superb recitals and recordings clearly demonstrate this fact. One such recital, with pianist John Covelli, was given at the Bel Eden mansion in the early 1980s. (The program is shown below.) A VHS tape of this recital was made available by Crystal Productions, Inc. of West Hartford, Conn and sold through Shar Products. The quality of this tape was appropriate for this time period but clearly could be made better. I restored my copy and transferred it to DVD. I am posting the two Sarasate pieces that were performed to show the end result.
I am surprised this beautiful recital at Bel Eden has not been re-issued in DVD format. Given current editing techniques and using master tapes, the picture and sound should be better than my final restoration. I would urge, who ever holds the copyright to this video, to re-issue "An Evening at Bel Eden" in DVD format soon.
