I think women still need presence of mind to orgasm and men don't necessarily. By presence of mind I mean a connection between your mind and body that can augment your experience of stimuli. I don't think it's mental. Nearly any time I orgasm while sleeping/dreaming, it is never with a person or even a situation alluring that mentally I'd agree to awake. Some feel gross, and I just pass it off as something my body needed to achieve, even if my mind was no part of it.
