Best will it start I ever seen. You got your Grandpa's collection of a lifetime of collecting, most guys my age will get that, you got tractors, if you ever drove a tractor you know it's like a horse farmer relationship, then you got spending time with your Dad. Then getting the tractor going.... Bonus😀

That takes me back to when I was a kid and would visit my grandparents. At some point I would end up out in the barn crawling all over grandpa’s Farmall Cub. A couple of times he would give me and my brother and sister rides on it. We would stand on the back and hold onto the back of the seat while he drove across the field down to the creek. Good memories.

Your dad mighta passed on his comedy genes to you. He had me laughing with his little comments while he was filming you riding that tractor. Can't wait to see you get it all sweet patina'd up and cutting that backyard! More Dad in your videos, please! That man is a definite treasure. Bless your Grandma, she will definitely shut those others down when they complain about her selling that machine to you. Nobody gonna give no mess to Grandma, and they will have you and Dad to reckon with if they do give her any trash. She needs some grass cutting on her yard for giving you a deal!

@@PuddinsFabShop My grandma was the same way, my grandpa was a ham though. Never did have a tractor, he was a mule man. Granted he was too poor as a coal mining, moonshining famer with 9 kids to afford one! Appreciate how hard and frustrating working on vehicles are, especially old ones, you do a great job of keeping it fun from start to finish.

Funny how I missed this one when it came out. She's a doozy! Family and Farmall fun and a chance for a Will It Run - what could be better? I like your Grandma too, mate. She sounds like she shoots straight and from the hip too, so I see where you and Jim get it from. Always know where you are with her and she'll be fair but firm. Reminds me of my own Grandma - loveliest and kindest person you could meet, but don't cross her unless you want a severe tongue lashing as you get your ass whooped. She used to tell me "nobody gives you anything for free and I ait gonna start a trend, because that isn't how life works. If you work to pay for what you want, you'll appreciate it more too". She's been gone over ten years, but I still hear that as plain as if she were standing beside me. That little Farmall is a neat unit. She sounds great and I'll bet with a little loving, she'll perform another 70-odd years of service.

Riding and working or tractors with him are some of my most cherished memories. I'd give anything to be able to make a new one. I am getting my Papaws Simplicity 7112 garden tractor this weekend. Has a tiller and deck but hasnt been run in 8 years or so. Paw used it in his garden and was about to discard it to the scrapper, but Dad started working on it when he was younger and got her back to tip top shape. Paw used it for a little longer then they started using it for deer plots. Dad quit hunting in places he needed to continually keep good plots in bad areas to hunt and it just set, somewhat neglected.. Now, me being somewhat of a mechanic, i want to get her going and start running a few hunting plots up in TN. Going to get it from FL this weekend. Pretty stoked, I will probably give it a few days and a bunch of beers to get used to the new place and make a plan. Good to see people likeminded and wanting to see the mechanical aspects of our parents and grandparents live on. Cheers bud, Hope you get all that stuff back working and at least let your family share the fruits of a big purchase by the ones that have passed, and spent tons of time with that equipment. For me, it the time with the equipment, and knowing my Pawpaw was sitting on that same seat..

Just finished the video.. I was away when my Paw died and havent been around since. The kids and lesser mechanical / technical / carpenter based folks took over most of his area and tools. Kills me to see it in disrepair but Nanny wants no part of trying to make it nice or having things go to where they will be respected and used. Glad she is happy, but it kills me. Hence my long post for the 7112. Keep this shit up bud, im eating it up. lol.

@@PuddinsFabShop Young man, I'm 80 plus and have barns full just as your grandpa, and if someone touches my hard earned saved parts like you fellows were, I would go ballistic, my stuff is where it needs to be and needs to be treated with respect. I NEVER go to the store, haven't been there in more than 15 years, I've got everything right there just as your grandpa had. As I said we that are left can't respect old dudes like this enough, and how they thought and did things. Not looking for a pissing contest, but if the shoe fits, well.

I'm an old timer myself, and in my opinion they could do themselves well if they sat there and looked at everything he saved until they understood why he saved it, stuff don't grow on trees, and while they were at it they could clean all that rat crap, and put things back just as he had it. My rant.

Old man, respect is earned not givin. You do not have my respect. Me and grandpa had nothing but respect for each other. We worked on projects together until he passed away. His last words to me were to literally finish work and jobs he hadnt finished yet. If you think my grandpa would rather see his equipment he worked on and stuff he used to fix it go to waste sitting there being untouched, well obviously you didn’t know my papa. Also what’s supposed to happen to all of his stuff? Don’t go through it? So don’t sale nothing either? So it will all sit there until when?? Until we start the look at grandpas stuff museum? I don’t understand your rant here about how you think this is disrespectful.. I’m quite proud to be able to get my grandpas tractor going using only what he had down around there. And you’re right if the shoes fits.. wear it, ass.

I live in the quad cities, where at one time we had FARMALL, case, ih east Moline plant, Deere, cat and Minneapolis moline. The only thing left is Deere. My grandpa and my dad both retired from ih east Moline plant, and I remember when the farmall plant closed. I absolutely love old tractors. My brother has a 47 John Deere b, a 55 farmall cub, a 57 ford 4000, a 50 Ferguson, and a brand new kioti. I’ve got my dads 73 wheel horse, and I’m trying to get my grandpas 70 ih made cub cadet. I’ve never seen those rear tires on any tractor and I’ve been to a lot of tractor shows. Been around these old tractors my whole life. You’ve got a neat piece of history there

It's always best to prime the oil filter after setting for a while. Pull the top off the filter and squirt some oil into a small hole located in the top right of the filter can.

I have the same '49 Cub with a Woods belly mower, in addition to a 1947, the first year of manufacture. After a period of inactivity, you must prime the oil through the filter area.

Cubs didn't have a water pump similar to my John Deere MT. They had a thermosyphon system. Hot water rises and creates flow. Some tractors had shutters in front of the radiator to control air flow. You had to monitor the temp. gauge.

I love these old tractors my grandfather has a cub and a cub low boy. The low boy had a blown crankshaft and was still pulling 18inch+ in logs out. Never would have known we blew a crank and was only running on 2 of the 4 cylinders

@@PuddinsFabShop yea but we have no ideal how it didn't overheat when we flipped the motor after splitting it and taking it right off it literally fell apart after the mains were pulled. Made for a great senior capstone project tho.
