Arena Essex Raceway was a stock car and speedway racing track located near Purfleet, Essex. It opened in 1978 and closed in 2018.

My mama used to own the Event Time Catering. The trailers used to be littered around the arena. Me and my sister's used to come here all the time to help with the stock. We loved it here and it always turned into a day out. We especially loved it when the cars went out on their test runs. We were all heartbroken when we heard it was closing in 2018. Angry to. My mum's business was going to go bust and we had to move all of the trailers away. I'd hoped to work here when I grew up. 2018 was a horrid year and a end to a 40 year legacy. RIP mama

I remember going here in the early 2000s for 'meanstreet cruise'.. was a great venue, it kept us boy racers off the streets.

Many happy memories of Arena Essex . Loved Sunday , Bank Holiday banger meetings . Such a shame it closed ....😥😥😥

So sad to see it being demolished. Me and some friends spent many happy times there watching Arena Essex Hammers Speedway there.

I loved racing here many a good memory and racing firecrackers and almost won firecracker 20 in a volvo v70

This was my Home track i live just a mile from the track been filming there for 9 years and it stills hurts me today :'(

The biggest loss in the Banger Racing community was losing this track. I so wish it could be reopened.

I done my first ever banger race at arena Essex and joined pri and became my home track in 2000 so sad to see it closed happy find memories of a Sunday and bank holiday there .

I used to do the write ups for all the drift meets there. Lots of happy memories there!

The wont build house's on there i dont think there get planning but this use to be my home track for 6 years but i use to go watch as a kid all the time so sad they closed it had so much fun down there over the years.

What a waste of a great raceway. Loved coming down to Arena Essex. If someone and the money it could be reopened. They won't be able to build houses there. It gets to congested now without building a housing estate. Too many tracks being lost. We have just lost Birmingham wheels and now Ringwood is at risk.

It's illegal to build under electric pillows from what I'm told and on an old quarry.

@@TheUrbexTheory cheers for that. Let me tell you about me. I am 31 years old back in December and I am autistic since I was 3 years old. I started filming in 2010 for about 6 meeting and then it started and been going for nearing every meeting. when I heard the news in the middle of 2018 I was Heartbroken and did a video to break the news to my people and they was shocked and i don't drive to other race tracks. 3 months after the last Firecracker Meeting I was on my way home after seeing my girlfriend for an early Valentines Day I was Threaten on the moving home asking me for weed and try to steel my beg and he was threatening to stab me. he left with nothing and he got off the next station and when he left and the train moved I started to broken very hard. He got 6 years in Prison. I got the newspapers and printed online news with me locked up in the box. For me right now it's been hard for me cus of the lockdowns.
