:Exploring Abandoned Anything can be dangerous or Deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks & responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. Their could be nails, Asbestos, Falling concrete soft floors, animals or other hazards. You Americans have to understand that the chances of running into a bad person especially once you get into your vast wilderness, is virtually nothing. You all hide in your homes and lock your doors. Sure if you put yourself out there all the time there may be times when you bump into the odd looney. But then he’s got to still have a gun and a problem with you before its an issue. your whole culture has been utterly terrified by the fact that you can buy a hand gun in a store! And then keep it in your glove box when you go to Walmart. Therefore you cant speak to strangers through fear. You cant be yourself through fear. Your kids have to go through a metal detector at school. You have no idea how ridiculous that seems to so much of the rest of the world especially as you still believe you are in a FREE country. I live in the Uk and - London mentalists aside there are still places un the uk where you can leave your door unlocked at night and we talk to strangers everywhere. 99% of humans just want peace to live their lives . 1% of humans are either mentally ill or want to control others. And they are winning clearly, if you think driving into the country is dangerous. Half of the 1% of control freaks run your government and allow you to arm yourselves against a pretend enemy. Even 99% of LA citizenss and NY citizens hate gun crime. But you have all empowered the control freaks to control you.

Great explanation of retention ponds, and of the beneficial effects of cattails. The only problem the ponds is that they are a poor substitute for the original landscape. I live just outside Pittsburgh, and everybody who lives north of the city knows about McKnight Road. It was always a commercial corridor, but starting in the 80's, developers decided it would be a great idea to pave over every single square inch of ground that could house a mall, strip mall, store or shop. The developers, engineers and township supervisors (a couple of whom should have gone to jail for accepting "gifts" from the developers) allowed for just enough retention ponds to comply with Pennsylvania regulations, the result being that any significant rain storm is accompanied by flash flooding on certain areas along the corridor.

Power lines generate heat and that's one reason why they're seen overhead on large power poles. Also, being in open air it helps to dissipate the heat that's generated. It would, also, cost millions to switch them to underground utiltes.
