History
There is a very limited information surrounding the history of this building, the main building seems to have been constructed in the 1800's as a coaching inn, it looks to have passed through many owners over the years including Punch Taverns who operated the pub under their '2 for 1' brand. In 2011 Punch Taverns demerge their 'managed pubs' business and form the Spirit Pub Company and with it the Darlaston Inn as well. The pub was rebranded under the Fayre & Square name, in Summer 2015 it was announced that Greene King were to acquire the Spirit Pub Company and with it, the Darlaston Inn. The pub continued to operate under the Fayre & Square brand until it was announced on 26 February 2018 that the pub and Wacky Warehouse would closed only a few days later. A planning application was submitted shortly after to construct a Petrol Station and KFC on the site completely demolishing the existing buildings, the application has since been refused and the future of the building remains unknown. Looking through online reviews the pub did not appear to have a great reputation in the run up to closure and with Greene King retiring the Fayre & Square branding it seems like an ideal opportunity to close the site.
At the time of the exploration we could see that it was totally empty and ready for demolition.
