This guy is at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall outside of Beijing. We went there last year and to get to the abandoned part of the Great Wall you literally just crawl out the window at the last tower that has been reconstructed. You aren’t supposed to but you will need help getting back in the window as it is about 6 feet from the bottom of the window to the ground below. For a good experience on the abandoned part of the Great Wall I’d recommend Great Wall Fresh. When hiking from the Chen farm along the Great Wall you are literally all by yourself for hours, overall totally awesome.

Not sure about this section of the wall, but huge sections of the Great Wall were torn down during the 1950s and 1960s, essentially becoming quarries for bricks to build houses and other buildings.

The history behind this was the emperor would give this as a light punishment to those who hit or kicked or stole, and the people who got punished would stand her and work everyday until it was finished. They would stand and stack the stone bricks and they would be even more punished if they didn't do their job. The Great Wall of China isn't a continuous wall and it doesn't go only through jungle. It is a series of barriers and it actually go through the desert as well

There are walls that kept the Huns out.But those walls are very dilapidated now and mostly in the northern desert. They become somewhat like sand dunes now. The Huns are nomadic ppl who lived in the steppe 1000 yrs before the Mongols.
