Ex-parolees Earl and Toney spend 2 hours trying to get a hold of this abandoned pitbull, before having to call for backup from Elise. With Elise on the scene, the scared dog is finally able to relax a little and decided to approach her.

Kudos to the boys who clocked in on what that dog needed to get out of the parking lot! Takes a lot of empathy to really clue into what an anxious dog will benefit from and they did great!!

You can literal tell the dog was going to seek out Elise. She hasn't even spoken yet, the dog saw her coming and started walking forward. Then when she hears Elise speak, you see her ears twitch and she side steps Tony. Like there's not a single bit of hesitation when she's walking to Elise. Way to go Toney and Earl for doing what was comfortable for thos sweet baby. They were so patient and loving.

I think she responded well to a higher pitch voice because it seems like she may have been hurt by deep voiced people.

@@dragonstouch1042 they do. My 2 rescues distrusted men after their abuse. They warm up quickly once they perceive no threat and we work on it. One would cower. Baby voices seem to provide comfort and reassurance while being non. Threatening.

A lot of times deeper voices are just scarier to animals no prior bad history needed.

My dog isn't a pitbull but when we got her she had been very badly abused and was absolutely terrified of men, she would roll over and pee on herself if a man approached her even if it was a child. It took time but over a decade later she is the sweetest friendliest dog you'd ever meet. Sometimes they just need a little extra love

My rescue was like that as well. I’d win her over on the weekend cause she’d be with me all day but come Monday evening when I got back from work she would go back to peeing and running to a corner scared. We found her a home with only women. we felt bad she had to go through that every week.

I had a dog that was terrified by women, and totally by children. He took years to warm to me, he absolutely adored my hubby. Years later I learned he had been owned by an abusive woman who allowed her kids to torture him.

I love the people who rescue Pit Bulls and give them a chance at happy lives. They are such nice dogs and so underappreciated. Only kind of dog I like. They are not bad, only bad owners who mistreat them. I would love to adopt an elderly Pit Bull. I am 72 and I love elderly animals.

I suggest checking local animal shelters and rescues and seeing if they have any elderly pit bull type dogs available for adoption :)

@MD&E - - Except for the street name of APBT, there really isn't a specific Pitbull breed. However, it's easy to see that this rescue, with her Terrier body/coat and blocky-style head, is some type of Bully mix.

It’s interesting to see who dogs gravitate to, avoid or flat out dislike. I’ve seen dogs dislike good people for reasons I can’t figure out but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dog like a nasty person. Wish I could figure out what it is they sense. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to help an animal in need.

Bahahaha Elise will never let you live that down Earl. LOL I love what you all do Thank you for being there and saving these lovely dos. We are cat people but if we had a doggie it would definitely be a Pit. They are loyal, friendly and happy babies by nature. Only when they get abused or are made to fight will they be aggressive and even then, they still will trust again and love you. Some humans need to be locked away with shit for food for what they do to these dogs. Animal abuse should be the same as abusing a child, they are both helpless. Thats with regard to that guy that left that Pitte with junk piled in front and it was 100 degrees.

Me: After 3 months, I'm ready to honor my hound, Jackson, by adopting another shelter dog. Mom: Great! Just do not adopt a Pitt or Bully breed. Not because they are bad but hotels and places just don't accept them. It will cause you so many problems. Me: Umm, okay. I don't think we have a say. The dog usually picks you, but I don't think my hubs would go for it anyway, he wants a lab or a mutt. Tell shelter what we are looking for and they Pitbulls and Paroles it by bringing dogs out to us that they think fit our lifestyle. First - female Pitt and so cute but no connection. Second - female Pitt and beautiful, but not interested in us and my hubs is getting annoyed. Third - male Staffie mix that my husband takes one look at and says to me "no way, nope, not happening". That Staffie took a treat from me gently, and put his head on my husbands knee. Turns out, he's my soul dog. I never believed in that soul dog stuff, having loved many dogs, but yup, it's a thing. Sorry for the ramble

@@maddogsenglishmen8020 why are you replying on so many comments disparaging rescue dogs and being elitist about pitt bulls? And why the hell would you be watching a clip from pit bulls & parolees if you're so elitist? Why do you act like mutts or mixed breed dogs are bad? They deserve love and a home and care just as much as any purebred dog, and for that matter, shelters actually end up with a fair amount of purebred dogs. Plus studies have found that in most cases, mutts actually have less health issues and genetic problems compared to purebreds, though of course ethical breeding that considers health factors can help this. Also what country are you from? In the UK and many other countries sure, pitbull specifically refers to the American Pitbull Terrier, but in the USA it can refer to a variety of breeds or mixed breeds descended from terriers and bulldogs.

@@ZebraGirl97 not saying they don't but it's not fair to call them pitbulls or a breed because if they attack the real breed gets blamed and euthanized and banned from more countries and states. A breed should be represented by professional breeders who breed for temperament and generations of selective breeding to make sure they have all round good traits. No such thing as a breed wondering the streets

@@ZebraGirl97 The US mislabel dogs . Me and Mad are both in the USA . The word “Pit “ refers to the Box. The “pit “ is a 4 corner wall where Dogfighting took placed . A mixed breed vs Gr Ch Nigerino ( APBT) in the pit ( box) would have been a dead mixed breed within 2-5 minutes. All real pit bulls are Game Bred and have bloodlines . No Bloodlines No Pit bull

the one thing that needs to change for the bully breeds is the insurance on your house goes up. I had to actually prove that my dog was not a bully breed for my house insurance. DNA testing she is a mutt but she has terrier in her not specified as a bully breed my insurance didnt go up. she is labrador retriever, australian shepard, alaskan malamute, great pyrenesse, and 25% terrier unspecified breeds which could be any terrier even schnauzer... lol I think if u take a class or 2 for training your "bully breed" ur house insurance shouldnt go up

I see cases like this all the time at work, I seem to have better luck than our other guys, but there are absolutely dogs that hate men (and some that hate women). One we have right now is Coco and he will growl at any man who passes by, except me, he will wag his tail so damn hard his whole rear shakes and he has given himself "happy tail" a few times when I've been assigned to that kennel and had to wrap it up.

but she clearly has some sort of bully breed in her. most dogs in shelters are pitbulls, it doesn't mean they're purebred, just means that there is a bully breed mixed in somewhere. "pitbull" is an umbrella term

"pitbull" isn't an actual breed. it's a type of dog breed, with four "official" breeds that fall under that term. but the term "pitbull" is more like slang, really. which is why mixes with staffie/bully blood are also called "pitbulls". the actual pitbull problem is people having incorrect stereotypes about pitbulls - that they are aggressive and violent - and as a result are unwilling to adopt/allow these types of dogs in certain countries or establishments. the pitbull problem is not what people call "pitbulls". what I'm actually hearing from you is "pitbull mixes shouldn't be considered pitbulls at all and it's because of the other breeds mixed in that people have these negative stereotypes about pitbulls" when what you should be saying, if you actually cared about the pitbull problem, is "people shouldn't jump to conclusions about a dog because aggressive dogs are not born, but instead are taught to behave that way by humans"

@@thechennifer no pitbull is a breed with bloodlines such as eli bolio jocko redboy Cottingham alligator titere jeep. Four breeds can't be under the same breed. You need to learn about game dogs. Only one dog was in the pit and that's American pitbull terrier. You know nothing about real game dogs. Staffy is not a pitbull because pitbulls are banned In the uk but staffys and American bullys are allowed In the uk and the ban was breed specific to pitbulls. The pitbull got its bad reputation because every shelter dog that attacks is mislabeled as a pitbull. Pitbulls also have a bad reputation because you put 4 breeds under 1 breed. 99.99 % of people who say they have pitbulls do not they have mutt shelter dog mixes. Real pitbulls cost money!!!!

@@maddogsenglishmen8020 cool 🤷🏻‍♀️ well this show is located in the US and this dog is what we call a pit bull. the american pitbull terrier isn’t even recognized by the akc. i don’t claim to know anything about game dogs. just that “mutt” and “pit bull” are not mutually exclusive.
