I remember eating at Ponderosa maybe once or twice when I was a kid and I remember it being good.

I worked as a server at the ponderosa in Washington PA for 6 years as a server in high school and college! My dad worked as an inspector for their corporate and would travel to every ponderosa that’s wasn’t privately owned in the country. I believe ponderosa had over 200 stores he would travel to. He left in 2011 and has since passed away due to cancer. Wash pa ponderosa is now a Mexican restaurant.

My 1st job was at Ponderosa. McKnight Rd. There was one in Wexford, Avalon, Pleasant Hills, Harmarville, New Castle, Lower Burrrell and across from Kennywood.

Ponderosa up here in Ontario, Canada was a big deal in the 1970's up to about 1985 ( the last time I ate there . They all closed, it seemed at once . The one where I last ate at ( and where I now live ) ,the building is still intact . What it is now is a Used car dealership !

Our Ponderosa has been gone for years, I loved it, the prime rib was awesome! I would love for them to come back and Bonanza too!

The Poderosa in York Pa down near Queen Street sadly closed in the 90s. I liked eating there.

Found this site by accident, happy to see video of J-town even though I am not clear what is intended for the Ponderosa site. I have heard many suggestions. I just hope it is a bonanza for our hometown.

That's one big ponderosa. Ate at the Ottawa IL one a lot as a kid. We had bonanza in Peru a long time ago. I'll keep saying that I wish we had boscovs here in Illinois. You had me at fudge. I see that they still have a candy counter. I'll have to get the nearest one in either Erie or st Clairsville. Thank you for showing this.

My town, here in Ontario Canada, had the last Ponderosa in Canada for years...it was turned into a different restaurant and that restaurant is still open, still in prime location.

We used to go to the one that was in Hermitage, PA. I really liked their salad bar. After it closed it became a Chinese buffet. Then they tore down the building and built an O’Reilly Auto Parts in its spot. The ones in Butler, Chippewa, and Warren (Ohio) are still open.

I grew up in Bellevue, pa next to Avalon. Was a ponderosa there long time ago. You had to ask for A1 steak sauce or they would give you their brand of sauce

Great video. I’m from eastern PA near Philadelphia. I remember when we used to take my kids to Ponderosa, Bonanza, etc. back in the 80’s. They were good at first but the quality of their food declined later on so we stopped going. Thank you for sharing. It brought back a lot of memories.

The Ponderosa in Ludington MI is still alive and well to this day. I think it's one of the best ones I've been to. It's very clean and they have decent food. Not the best food in the universe, but definitely good for the price.

Great vid as usual. Not a fan of ponderosa's but the I e at the Clearview mall Butler seems to be doing well. You have to do a vid on violas market, Evans city closing after 55 years and the main shopping place for the locals, especially the older ones. It's longevity deserves a vid.

I just found your channel last night, and I love it. I wish you could come down here to Jasper Ga. We just had a Rite Aid, Sav A Lot, and a Freds, to all close down at once ! And we are losing the local pet store, as well as a historic Inn.

Love your videos and I usually don't comment, but I worked for For a franchise based out of Philly. I was in charge of 12 of them in 3 different states back in the 1980's. One reason they went belly up is they couldn't not change with the time of a changing industry. Only one's that are left are the the privatly owned. I miss them too. Ponderosa was my absolute favorite of the 3, it closed a while ago. I do remember my last experience about a couple months before shutting down being the worst one though. At least the building is being put to use. Any word on if the Ryan's will be anything?

unfortunately more restaurants are shutting down because people don't eat out like they used to. The only thing that stays open is fast food these days. i saw something online that millennial's don't like eating out. They would rather grab something and go home. Who really knows. The same people that wrote the articles mentioned the millennial's are responsible for the decline of the shopping mall.

Hey Wallie The Ponderosa in Weirton WV off of US Route 22 West Exit 5 Three Springs Drive Turn right It was located at the Corner of St Thomas Drive and Three Springs Drive. Did this Close as well? My friend Branden and I ate at this one once a week when we lived in Moon PA

Two of the three are being used again so it will really help traffic at the mall. Now if they could fill the anchor stores they would be in better shape.

Never ate in one but we had one at our rinky dink mall which became several other places before being converted into a Foot Locker. LongHorn is good steak at a decent price, good beer selection. I hope you can get some place still open to eat! And still have to get to a Boscovs and hunt for cupcakes and a shopping bag! I would pay to just watch you tell stories about anything and everything. It's long overdue medical marijuana is legalized. I never touched the stuff (I go to Amsterdam and thought the coffee houses served coffee!!!!)

Johnstown, PA is one of the most economically depressed/poverty lvl populated, cities in America. The city lacks in available, full time, livable wage jobs, and has an absolutely trash public transportation system; a system that is so lacking, that some potential employers in the area don't consider it reliable transportation, so those depending on it are often not hired. Ppl struggle to elevate themselves out of poverty because of this. It's a vicious cycle that the city seems okay with, because the city's distressed status makes it eligible for state & federal lvl monetary assistance; with which, who knows what they spend it on, as there really seems to be no noticeable improvements being made. Also to note: the ratio of ppl subsisting on or below the poverty lvl in the city vs those who don't, is so great that All children attending the public school district(Greater Johnstown school district) are eligible for free breakfast & lunch meals, at school, without the parents having to complete any paperwork.
