Abandoned Railroad Crossings

On the morning of August 25th, I got on up and went out to document a few crossings around Butte (and elsewhere in Montana) before I continued onto Washington. Said crossings included some ones along a rail trail that featured some abandoned crossing signals at them, which appear to have been preserved as part of the trail, having their crossbucks converted to say "Trail-Trail Crossing" on them.

Oh my god that is too cool! I wish more bike trails would make more creative use out of crossing signals.

They should add pederstren buttons to activate the signals that would be the perfect use for those old signals and have a timer on them

Would it be cool if these signals were converted to be used as trail signals much like a crosswalk Hawkeye signal but instead of that they’re crossing signals, that flash for pedestrians on the trail

On most of the signals (if not all of them) they have been wired up from the top of the signals, it’s certainly weird.

The BA&P appears to have been an electrified operation, so that may have had something to do with it.

The city changed the crossbucks to say "Trail Trail Crossing" due to the line being ripped-up and turned into a rail trail.
