Starting in the 1930s, Snuffys started as a steak house but was a hidden speak easy for the NJ area built by William Robertson, known businessman who ran speakeasies during prohibition. The original owner sold the property in the 1970s, and by then, the property wasn't just a steak house. It was hosting birthday parties, proms, parties, and of course weddings. With 8 unique and beautiful rooms for different prices, guests could decide on which Renaissance themed room they wanted for their event. This is when the name was then changed to Snuffys 'Pantagis'.
Further success followed in the coming decades as generations of families gathered memories inside the beautiful stained glass windows that encapsulate the building. Along with a long list of bad food reviews, in 2020 the business was forced to shut down with no opening date in sight. Seven months into the year the owner apologetically announced the permanent closure of the event space. Not being open for nearly a year, as well as owing $600k in taxes, the building was forced to be sold at auction.
As of 2024, the building has since been demolished and in its place, a German supermarket will be built. Please use this video as a historical remembrance of what was once in this community and served countless families for almost a century. Walk around with me as if the building is still around and we are looking at it one more time. This is a remarkable location and one of my favorites. I hope you all enjoy. Thanks for watching !
Leave a thumbs up on the video to support & Subscribe for more historical abandoned content !

A one of a kind location that I'll remember forever. With the history dating back to prohibition, and the visual experience of walking through here. Its a recipe for a great explore with sprinkles of decay mixed in. I hope you enjoy this one til the end, because each room is better than the last ! As always, if you want more history, its present in the bio ! Thank you for being here and have a good day!

I agree with many of the commenters, I'm surprised that the historical society or former owners didn't sell this venue to prevent it from being demolished. It's a beautiful venue. That glassware looks expensive. But the stained glass is a hug takeaway. Great exploration.

I was there back in 1989. Went with my fiance' when I was home on leave, food wasn't bad at the time, but that's been 35 yrs ago. Also had a friend who got married there in the early 1990's. Remember growing up in Rahway and seeing the commercials on our local stations. Another restaurant that was around that area was called Sleepy Hollow. Great video brings back memories.

I’m with a lot of other commenters . The fact this was demolished is really a shame . The beauty of the woodwork ,the stain glass, and you can see the elegance . In 2024 this place could have been sold to someone with the finances to bring it back and make a fancy restaurant or a Wedding Venue again . Beautiful work on your videos !! Great camera work ,Good history about what we as an audience are about to see and great voice work . Not a rush job very classy !! I just came across your channel June 22 . My name is Laura and I’m from Canada . I’ve subscribed and notice your videos are long format which I like and WELL DONe . It took my breath away. I have seen hundreds, if not thousands of urbexes. Few buildings have impressed me as much as this one here. A work of art. Great depiction of the power of detail - you can see that the creators had a love of it. I could stand in one place and admire one stained glass window, one chair or woodwork for hours. Anything. I would probably have to live in this place for a few weeks (if it wasn't for the mould) - and it would probably be one of the best weeks of my life. Human beings are poor in their lack of awareness - we live our lives as if nothing ever happened, unaware of what beautiful places surround us. I am not a fan of minimalism, I also believe in both detail and high quality. This whole building looks great even today - irrefutable proof that good taste and high quality are eternal. Apart from the basement - there is a strictly apocalyptic vibe. I wonder if the mould problems were caused, for example, by insufficient heating or plumbing problems? Is it this year's or last year's exploration? Demolishing such a work of art is downright criminal. I wonder if anything has been saved - even the stunning stained glass windows.

Why are city's tearing places like this gorgeous venue down. It really makes no sense. Why don't they sell it to someone who could run it, or replace/redo how this place could be used. What is a city going to do with a dated, gigantic, insane wedding hall? It’s not the city doing anything, someone bought the land to build something else. Fun for an explore, but this is a relic, and the East Coast is always ready to build over the old to make way for the new.

Okay so... I watched the video finally. And I have to say, it is a shame anyone didnt loot the place down. Yeah, I know what people will say, its theft and so on. But I dont really care anymore. Times are getting tough, and its not easy to start a business from scratch. Over here in the early 90s quite a lot of people looted, and sometimes literally stole tools, machinery, and other stuff from their former workplaces, as it was the time when lots of industries went down. Guess what, the same people often ran their small businesses with that stuff, and earned pretty money, to this day having brand new cars and big houses. Its either someone uses it, or its going to get wasted. I never took a single thing from a working venue, but if I were to explore an abandoned one, I wouldnt hesitate. Thing is, everytime I went into one, someone was quicker than me, and later on I seen all those glasses at local craigslists. And now for a bit of a personal story... Earlier on I mentioned my grandparents manufacture. I used to work for some time there. When I knew that the closure is coming to an end, I pretty much rescued everything from over there that was worth rescuing. Even handtools. I felt like this is needed. It wasnt an easy task, as I had to rent a trailer, pack and then unpack everything. Plus it was a hot summer. And guess what. The place got raided very shortly after, and all those things could easily get stolen. I pretty much saved the stuff, and it is safe. New owner does not care, but in case he would need anything, Id be happy to lend him. Lesson learned: dont leave stuff behind. There was plenty of time to secure this. Thanks for documenting this very sad sight. Especially it hit me personally, because I was in 2 relationships before, that were supposed to end with marriage. Now in my current one I had to postpone the wedding for a few months, as I do not have enough money...

Kids wouldn’t waste a moment destroying this place if you let them . Busting everything and graffiti everywhere . Seen plenty online of abandoned place videos of places that were once beautiful and then abandoned and young people just destroying everything in the place .Soo senseless .

Canceled and cancelled are both correct. Americans favor canceled (one l). British English prefers cancelled (two l’s). You should know grammar before you laugh at someone.

Super tacky place. Lacquered wood, colored glass and "scrollwork" lettering above doors isn't renaissance 😂. It's big and there's a lot of it but 🤢

Renaissance style ?? 😂😂 It’s not renaissance style at all, it’s something like early 20th century.
