while exploring this shopping centre, it was crazy to see items still left in the shops and on the shelves. This place was giving apocalyptic vibes for sure. It is said that the shopping centre is now to be turned in to some thing else. It was a decent explore this one.

The furniture and musical instruments belong to the CGX charity which still operates on the High Street and uses some of the units (with owner's permission) as storage. Thanks for behaving well in our workplace but please correct the record. A lot of the items filmed are OUR STOCK - NOT ABANDONED! Kyle Centre is still an active workplace with active CCTV. If you would like to see inside, come and volunteer with us!

There seems to be a glut of charities around that have loads of “stock” they seemingly do nothing with. Not picking on this one specifically but my own first hand knowledge can attest to that.

@@Jpmckay22they have to have time to sell it though they can't just give it away, or it does no good for the charity which is the whole point of others donating it to begin with.

@@Jpmckay22 We would aslo like to see stock move faster. if the rate of donations is a bit higher than the rate of sales we have to store it. The current owners of the Kyle Centre generously allowed us to use some of the empty units (the ones that don't flood too badly when it rains). The number of active volounteers is aslo a LOT lower since COVID (hint hint come and join us). Our market is for those on low incomes but don't qualify for free stuff - second hand is way cheaper. We have to derive an income from this to pay staff costs, rent, insurance and bills or we would cease to exist and most donations would go to waste disposal.

@@grosom31 true. I buy and sell second hand furniture myself and have just had too many experiences working with and for charities where I have witnessed either huge amounts of waste or unrealistic prices when they get a good quality item donated. Again, not saying anything about this organisation.

Had my first kiss in here, on the food court floor you can see at 7:18. Used to be full of metal tables and chairs, but even back in 2017, was more or less deserted. Shame to see it's all gone to ruin, but also sort of morbidly interesting...

One of our volunteers has polished up and repainted the tables! (square one's). Ask in our furniture shop, High Street just along from Marks and Spencers.

This is at the back of where I stay. How sad. Surely units could be given to a variety of community groups and used as creative spaces. Why can't abandoned stock that is usable be given to community groups. I am sure recycle Ayr could pass these items on. Our council representatives need to get there finger out and negotiate with who ever owns this space. Sad. Xxxx

Cather8ne, oir charity started here and still uses it to sort donations and prepare them for resale in our charity shop next door. We have been trying to get on with this reuse work despite local teens breaking in and vandalising the place and now urbex community members intruding and faking that its abandoned.

I hate to see this place left like this, the town/council need to lower rates and get these shoes opened again or at least do them up for other projects for the people of our town what a waste,

We are a local charity that uses 5 of the units for warehousing and preparing items for reuse and resale. This helps local people, planet and our town. Its being vandalised in 2021 by local 14 year olds, has made it too expensive to reopen. Redevelopment pending.

All the big brand shops like River Island and Topshop moved to Ayr Central when that opened, and it was all downhill from there. Ayr Central should never have been given planning permission. Ayr has more than enough retail space as it is and there were never enough retailers to fill the Kyle Centre and Ayr Central and the Arran Mall.

@@jimmcintosh9045 the best thing about it all the shops at Ayr central were pretty much built for the shops that opened in mind. All stores went under and now they lie empty. And rumours have it that the old Debenhams maybe be the police station.
