Hiding in plain sight at a busy intersection behind tall aging pine trees stands this abandoned house which was a dental clinic. It opened back in 1974 and was owned and operated by a local dentist who was known for his care, compassion, and treatment of his patients. The clinic was quite successful and was known for being a bustling hub of dental activity; with excited children coming in for their first check-ups and anxious adults seeking relief from toothaches.
The dentist was proud of his work and his name was so well respected that his business flourished for over 40 years before it was forced to close.
Just a few years ago, on what would seem like a normal, routine work day, the dentist suddenly collapsed to the floor. Unfortunately, upon the arrival of EMS at the clinic, he was pronounced deceased.
With this sudden and tragic situation, the family of the deceased dentist decided to close the dental clinic and it has been abandoned ever since.
With it being a random find from a drive by, we ventured into the abandoned dental clinic, we walked down creaking old stairs to an open back door, where we were greeted by the overwhelming smell of must and decay. Shockingly, the place also still had the power on for some reason.
We immediately found the waiting room filled with furniture and cobwebs, and the reception desk was covered in layers of forgotten paperwork.
As we continued to explore the clinic, we discovered several outdated exam rooms complete with dental chairs, old equipment, and tools - all covered in a thick layer of dust and debris. It was quite incredible to see how everything was left behind, but we also couldn’t help but to feel bad for the old dentist, especially as you could really tell that his dental practice was his absolute pride and joy.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances leading the dental clinic to fall into complete disrepair, it is a solidified story of one man’s dedication to the power of medicine and healing. With our hearts full of admiration for the old dentist, we left the clinic, determined to share the forgotten story of one’s man’s dedication and sacrifice to help anyone who came to his clinic.
