The Pennsylvania Railroad Museum is located in Strasburg Pennsylvania that sits in quiet Lancaster County. It features over 100 locomotives / cars dated 19th and 20th century that are old and abandoned looking as well as fully restored back to its glory. This museums goal is to bring these locomotives that were once the most used transportation source in the late 1800s to mid 1900s back to life. Through out the video you will tour the outside which has a few old locos waiting to be restored some sitting there for many years. There is also a turn table outside. Inside however are a lot of fully restored trains ranging from steam, to diesel, and to electric powered. This might not be the abandoned type video you are use to seeing from me but this place is worth checking out. It is open to the public for tours so check them out at www.rrmuseumpa.org

I remember as a kid in the '70's hiking out to the Trenton Cutoff and watching double-headed GG1's pulling mile+ long freights at 60 mph and more. I'll never forget the sound they made. I'd stand inches away from them too. It was definitely worth all the 7-minute itch I suffered.

The Pennsylvania State Railroad Museum in Strasburg, PA and The California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, CA are the two very best railroad museums in the United States & Canada. Six members of my family all worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad out of Coxton Yard just outside of Pittston, PA which is my late fathers hometown & birthplace.

hello Steve. thank you so much for the wonderful vans and close-ups. I was at the Strasburg railroad museum years back when I lived in York. I moved deeper into central Pennsylvania and haven't gotten back. I remember climbing on the gg1 that you now SCE repaired. I remember it had a fair-sized hole cab flooring. it looks really nice now. thank you I walk into the past. please forgive some of my sentence structure as I use Google Speech to Text

Seeing PRR 3750 and 6755 really make me cry. It's like every time I see them, I just transport myself back to the 1940s when these beautiful Iron Horses ran. The gears rolling, the steam hissing, the whistle blowing, the smokey fire smell, it's just so vibrant and astonishing. I would love to just touch 3750's boiler, not caring for the rust, but just to see them in action all those years ago.

This was amazing!! All these trains and rolling stock must have been worth a fortune. It's interesting how they are going to restore these. I hope that in the future that all old and broken trains are restored and used on real railways and heritage railways, so everyone can see history reborn into the modern age.

To be honest, i feel like the old trains are way more impressive than the newer ones. Once you learn the technology about generators and electromagnets, you can basically get the wheels to turn, as on the newer ones. It doesnt require too much fantasy, but of course a lot of technical skills. - The older ones.. Its so simple yet so complex. Heat creating steampressure, pushing pistons to make the wheels turn on such a giant machine. Amazing. Huge trains pulling miles of heavy loads; not that amazing. 350 kph trains; just waiting for it to happen. Just about reducing airfriction at high speeds. But these things are still impressive.. Truly historical masterpieces

These engines are by no means going to waste; quite the opposite actually. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania plans to cosmetically restore engines nos. 6755, 3750, 7688, and 520, and they will be displayed inside a roundhouse that will be built soon. Engine no. 757 is also going to be cosmetically restored, but it will be moved to a museum in Bellevue, OH and restored and displayed there.
