At Drivenmad, we repair, maintain and upgrade vehicles in our workshop, here in the sunny Algarve, Portugal.
Having hundreds of kilometres of dirt roads, dirt tracks and various hills with ruts on our doorstep, we venture out and test our 4x4’s to the limit (our limit, not theirs  )
When we can get one, we will slip in a vehicle review, along with some product testing - who does not want to know which tyre stops the best ?
So subscribe and join our journey as we modify, test and improve our cars in as many ways as possible.
You must love the tunes - so make sure to check out “Death Of Guitar Pop” for some awesome music!

If we can get it out the dealer, we can drive it some more = in for a service, taken to bits to change the timing belts, no belts in stock - that was 4 weeks ago - and at the main dealer 😿

Cool looking motor. Maybe I’m a bit old in the tooth for a 595 (I’m 51), but I’ve just got a F595. Has a 695 exhaust as standard and I love it. I’ve have a 5 litre TVR that I’ve driven all over Europe in in the 25 years + that I’ve owned it, but tbh this puts a bigger smile on my face than that does. It’s no where near as fast, but somehow it feels just as fast. Love the look of yours and I might have to start tweaking bits and bobs on mine.

51 ! thats a youngster to my Dad and he loves it - my Mum had one in the UK ( 595 with Monza kit) so always wanted an Abarth - I have not done anything to the suspension as I do motorway most weekend ( Algarve to Lisbon) and want a decent ish ride. The spacers are one of my ( and surprisingly Dads) favourite mods, just gives it a flatter stance ( no ride or handling difference) - Dad has just been looking up TVRs by coincidence, not one can we find here in Portugal.

I'm in the market for an affordable weekend toy - I used to have an Alfa 147 GTA which wasn't the fastest thing in the world, but as just so much damn fun to drive. I'm a big time audio guy so I'm looking for something that isn't too pricey to own or run, that can still put a massive smile on my face the way my GTA used to. Thinking of getting an barth 500 or 595 and removing the back seat (weight save, plus more room for audio gear) and maybe giving it a stage 1 tune. I have a few cars on my shortist but the Abarth looks like one of the most likely ones to really make me grin. And I love that it's tiny enough that I could just park it in front of my Octavia on my driveway and itll take up next to no space!
@DrivenMadShow
@DrivenMadShow 11 ай бұрын
That's a plan - the Octavia is a great car, the Abarth is its polar opposite - the shape and size really helps the audio, ours we added sound deadening ( limited job on that, but helped) - one thing for sure, makes you smile, cannot think of many that do it better ! go get one 👹

I've had a Fiat 500 Lounge Dualogic for almost 8 years. I LOVE it. Tomorrow I will be checking out the Abarth 695 Dualogic. I have NEVER driven one. I obviously do not know if the auto will be as QUIRKY as the 500 Lounge. Do you believe the Abarth will be better, an improvement?? ALL comments APPRECIATED. Thank You. Regards and Greetings from 'OZ'. (Australia)

Great question - we ( between us ) have had two Abarth's ( soft top & hard top) both 595's - a 1.2 lounge convertible a Qubo ( with the Dualogic ) - I would say the Abarth and the Dualogic are two peas from the same pod - personally, never found it an issue - the difference with the Abarth is the paddle shifters - if you want to crack on a bit, then once you get the hang of it, changes are pretty good - the box is quite violent ( if that's the right term) in auto when pressing on, really will thump into gear - all part of its charm and personality - love or hate I suppose ? day to day in town and traffic, the auto is great, we love it. - let us know how you got on, genuinely interested

@@DrivenMadShow THANK YOU sir. Your comments are GREATLY APPRECIATED. I will be taking the 695 Abarth for a 20 minute spin in a few short hours. I will let you know how I go and what I think of it. I am very excited about it. (Here in OZ they want $45K 'drive away') Thanks again, talk Soon. Regards.

@@DrivenMadShow It was GREAT. The dualogic was NO Problem to me. It was a short drive in congested traffic. Could not go 'at speed' at all. (Bummer) I am VERY Glad I had the opportunity to drive it. Would I buy one?- Yes, definitely. Will I buy one? - No. I am 65 and simply do not do the miles per year to justify the 695 POWER and $45,000 (AUD) cost!! I am looking at updating my 2016 Fiat 500 twin air 2 cyl turbo to a 2024 Dolca vita 1.2lt dualogic model. (Depending on 'changeover price' $$$) All the very best to you. Regards.

Not that we get through cars faster than our pants - you may have seen we had a twinair Panda (4x4 manual) and have had the 1.2 as a 500. The twinair is a great engine ( needs correct servicing as a tip) and in the 500x or L i forget, a simple tune takes it to 105hp what the 500x has from factory and allegedly is its sweet spot for the twinair - I would also say, if driven mildly hard it is not great on fuel, thrashed ( and it begs to be ) drinks like an Ausi :) Dolce Vita is a nice spec car - now let me chuck a spanner in the works - just got a Mini Cooper S electric ( I am the old one typing this - a mere 61 😎 ) awesome car, incredibly easy to live with - good for 150km a day easily, and a great price used, costs nothing to charge (Portugal prices) struggling to find a downside, unless you do really regular long trips - we have the Abarth and a VW that solves that, but the Mini has become our vehicle of choice ( a surprise to us all !)

@@DrivenMadShow Thank you. Interesting to read your comments. Regarding the 2cyl twinair, may I ask please what do you mean by, ''needs correct servicing''? What is the ''correct servicing''? What would you recommend? Thank you and regards.

Great video. What do you think about the 5 speed gearbox? I’m coming from a 500 1.4 (101 ps) with a 6 speed. Is the change noticeable in terms of fuel consumption or on the motorway? I’m considering upgrading to an abarth custom (145 ps) but the gear thing is putting me off a little.

Ours is auto and an acquired taste ( we love it ) - the manual is a great box, in a great position ( we had a 1.2 pop manual) the fuel is good, but as you will expect, right foot dependant - I do long ish motorway trips most weekends to Lisbon from the Algarve - getting 6ltrs / 100kms ish

@@DrivenMadShowis that fuel consumption in normal or sport mode?
@DrivenMadShow

@@kyryloromanenko3062 Motorway is always in normal mode, doing the legal limit 😉 on the motorway, the Abarth uses less fuel than the 1.2 pop !

I’m currently considering one, am coming from an Alfa Guilia. Big change I know but bang for your buck of this has me intrigued, my only concern is my GF has a standard 500 and I hate it, hate the seats, auto box is terrible and steering is….vague. Is the Abarth a big change/ refinement on the standard model? Really struggled to find a long term review, if you know of one to recommend please let me know. I’m personally interested in the competizione with the buckets and a manual box.

Interesting ... we had a 1.2 500c lounge (manual) and loved it - we had an Abarth 595 in the UK (with monza) and loved it - reliability is excellent if serviced correctly. ( we have had a couple of Panda's as well ) The auto in a 500 is an automated manual, it is vague, jerky and slow to respond, as is my Abarth :) it is a love and hate thing, the Abarth has paddle shift so it is great fun, but an acquired taste ! The manual is a really good shift, also tons of upgrades, short shift kits etc available. As to the seats, not really keen on the competizione buckets ( I have massive testicals and end up squashing on the big side bolster 😂 ) Seat position is quite upright and the steering wheel does not come out, only up or down ( a bit of a pain as I am long leg short body ( but massive testicalls as previously mentionsed have plenty of room for them in standard form seats 😎 ) - test drive is my suggestion, think hard on the seats and seating position, if you drive touring car style, then its perfect - the charm of the car wins you, its quirks are part of its personality, not many cars have that !
