ABBA used all of their resources to make great songs. Centering around the Piano (original writing) they created melodies and used different phrasing and arraignments, usually starting with a major key, then going to a minor and a flat or sharp, then going back to the major. It was brilliant and always made for a unique sounding piece that was unpredictable. The female voices were stellar and timeless and that's why today the songs still resonate and always will.

ABBA used their personal experiences, the good and the bad and turned them into songs. They created masterpieces. You can hear the heartbreak because it's authentic. I have so much respect that they were mature enough keep going, putting their pain in lyrics, writing and singing songs together and doing music videos. This is tough.

Thanks for the ABBA. Yeah the girls harmonies are always amazing. But it's everything. Benny's music, Bjorn's lyrics and the way they all fit together. Just a great band. You still have a ton of songs to do "The Name Of The Game" is one that is more complex but in a wonderful way. "Super Trouper", "One Of Us", "Chiquitita" and I don't see "I Still Have Faith In You" on your list. That on is off the new album, so the girls are both in their 70's pulling off those great harmonies. Anyway thanks again.

Loving ABBA was my best kept secrect as a boy at the age of 14. They were surounded by Giants like Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Genesis, AC/DC, Foreigner etc.. To release you like this was like an outing as being gay (a no go in the 70s), even if EVERYBODY had to agree that this was a real revolutionary pop music sound. We first had to grow up to give them the tribute they deserve. Sad but true.

Holy break up songs!!!! I knew the background to this song but I've never seen the film clip before. Wow! They really put it on the line in that video. Anyone who knows anything about the story of ABBA, really is left with no questions about what this video clip is saying with all the looks and stares and freeze frames.

Knowing Me, Knowing You was a song from 1976, The Winner Takes It All is from 1980. Doesn't matter, because every Abba song is sad. But most of them are disguised as happy pop songs. I guess that's the magic ingredient for making a long lasting popmusic legacy

thank you for continuing to discover ABBA music remember ABBA was two couples: Anni Frid Lyngstad (brunette singer) & Benny Andersson (barder pianist songwriter) Björn Ulveaus (guitarist songwriter) & Agnetha Fälkstog (blonde singer) "Knowing me knowing you" (1976) is on the album "Arrival" along with "Dancing Queen" and many other beautiful songs "Knowing me knowing you" is ABBA's second biggest UK hit (after Dancing Queen) with five weeks in #1 So different and beautiful both songs That is the characteristic of ABBA, to be very versatile, avoid repetition and seek excellence and perfection in their melodies and vocal harmonies. The lyrics are simple but very deep It allows to express the pain of a separation And contrasts it with a very catchy melody (another ABBA characteristic) The combination of female voices is pure beauty (my favorite passage is when Agnetha does the echoing voice of Frida's lead voice) The video is one of their best They constantly play with the image of the threesomes And with separations For future ballads I suggest you add to your lists: "I've been waiting for you" (1975) "My love, my life" (1976) "One man, one woman" (1977) I hope to continue see You in more reactions to ABBA songs I wish you a great dayTake care

Ed, it's not exactly ABBA's songs span both spectrums of sentiment: sadness and joy, love and breakup if you want to see songs of joy, fun / or love: People need love Waterloo Bang to Boomerang When I kissed the teacher Take a chance on me As good as new On nd on and on Head over heels Just a Notion to name a few, one from each album, including the last
@edned5504
@edned5504 2 жыл бұрын
@@eduardooscar309 I agree that these songs are upbeat but I feel a darkness in most of there songs. People need love (a plaintive call for forgiveness); Bang-a-Boomerang (unrequited love); When I kissed the teacher (school age crush); Take a chance on me (unrequited love again); As good as new (a plea for forgiveness); On and on and on (someone in search of love, but only find casual encounters, and some creepy come-ons) Head over heels (a woman bored with marriage, seeking comfort in consumerism); Just a notion (stalkers) and of course Dancing Queen, with the strong emphasis on 'YOU' can dance almost said in an accusing way. The singer is an observer and not a participant. The singer is jealous or critical of the dancing queen). These are just my interpretations of course, and in the main I enjoy the darkness the lyrics.

Yeah it's the beginning of the breakup songs Bjorn wrote when they split up. "Super Trouper" is about his new girlfriend after the breakup. Then "The Winner Takes It All" is his and Agnetha's divorce. Then "One Of Us" is after the divorce. Then when Benny and Frida divorced "When all is said and done" is about their divorce. But there are ton's of great songs in between all those as they were still working together.

@@symplytraciereacts The studio crew say they were allways very professional but it just got sadder and sadder. The last song recorded "The Day Before You Came" ----> kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5uihpmTx7bZdIU.html is very dark. Agnetha recorded it without the other members in a darkened studio. When she was done she hung up the headphones and walked out into the light. The engineer said he knew then ABBA was over. The link is to one of their last TV appearances righ before they broke up.

Abba sound good for a few reasons. But most of all Frida and Agnetha’s voiced. Agnetha is soprano and Frida mezzo-soprano. So the slight difference creates the magical blend. Also they are from an era where singing together is singing together in harmony. Today two singers just scream and try to out- sing each other. Abba are a class act from a different era.

Would love to see you react to Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust (their most well known song and the music video got voted as the best Finnish music video ever back in 2006 when the song was released). Truly an underrated band from here in Finland. Also a band with many different sounds all the way from slow melodic songs to full on rock. Although if you want to immediately hear a song that showcases how crazy good the lead singer Marko Saaresto's voice can be (and while his vocal range might not be the most dynamic out there he is an amazing example of what you can achieve by having absolutely perfect control of your vocals especially the raw emotion that his voice is able to convey) then i recommend listening to their song Daze. His vocals on the chorus are something out of this world. I just think that so many more people would love their music if they just ever heard them but since their from Finland it rarely happens. Although many have heard their songs in Remedy's video games Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Brake and Control (Also every single reactor i have seen reacting to them has been pretty much blown away by their music so i'm very confident you'll like it) also... also... lot's of deep and meaningful lyrics and wordplay in their songs sorry for the long rant i just really want more people to know about them :D
