I wouldn’t say deep bass Frida. She’s a mezzo-soprano. Which means she sings in a lower range than Agnetha, but Frida can climb up the ranges just like Agnetha.

Frida is maybe a full alto now in her 70s, but in the height of their fame, she was a mezzo-soprano. Benny isn't even a bass singer. That's a very low sound.

Pues te equivocas. Frida al comienzo empieza con un registro bajo difícil para Agnetha que le acomodan más las notas altas. En cambio Frida después canta la canción en un tono más alto que al comienzo, es difícil identificarlas después de ambas. No obstante, Frida le da cuerpo y profundidad a la canción, siendo la voz de soporte. ❤

I completely agree. I don't think I played it much when it first came out, but thats because I wasn't musically mature enough to appreciate it's slightly discordant sound and frenzied vocals. Now I recognize it as a pop masterpiece, and this live vocal is just awesome. You can really see how much they loved singing it.

@@blackmore4 You're absolutely right, now it is mid to slow tempo, but that time, among other ABBA's songs, this one was the fastest, I can say. All other songs were much slower and we were used to listen to them. Btw., now I wonder how I will like the new ABBA's album planned for this November (2021). After 40 years from their last album "The Visitors" we all listen to completely different music.

'Lovers Live a Little Longer' is categorically not the fastest song from that time (the Voulez-Vous album). It's about the same downtempo but funky speed as 'If It Wasn't for the Nights' and both of those songs are even slower tempo-wise than 'The King Has Lost His Crown'. Only 'Chiquitita' and 'I Have a Dream' are slower on the album. ALL of the other songs... 'As Good as New', 'Voulez-Vous', 'Angeleyes', 'Kisses of Fire' and 'Does Your Mother Know'... are considerably faster.

@@toby9999 All they're really doing is going up-the-scale. Frida handles the lower register nicely and Agnetha with her more powerful voice joins her on the higher-register chorus. Having said that, I always liked this track. (But what's not to like about BAAB)

@@Factory1313 Sorry, you're wrong. Frida has the deep, velvety voice you hear in the verses, Agnetha makes the ecstatic "please don't wait" exclamation in the 2nd verse. And both sing in the chorus, as usual with ABBA. Agnetha's voice goes through a bit more because it's more edgy and nasal (not meant as a derogatory, I adore her voice too). Smoking hot song btw.

I wonder how anybody can think that it's Agnetha who's singing the whole song after looking the performance in this video. Even if it's just lip sync: do they think, Frida is moving her lips just for fun and Agnetha can sing with a closed mouth? ^^

@@MrJetra if the "Should I laugh or cry" lyrics had been written by one of the women then almost certainly yes, but as far as I know Bjorn wrote the lyrics to all the later songs. Was he seeing himself as he imagined Agnetha might have seen him? Or perhaps Frida had been confiding in him? Intriguing!
