This song, "so long" is a tight blend of rock guiters, sax's and over layered vocals that combind in the final mix could never be performed live-WITHOUT A HOST OF STAGE MUSICIANS joining in...and, when they were'nt doing that, they were canned on TV(and the girls sung kerioki to the backing tracks so by the end of the song, you could just make out the ends of their live parts!!Finally someone who knows something about music!!!! PS: It is true that everyone's tone/range is different but just because one has a higher/soprano pitch doesn't change the fact that music written in those registers is still harder to sing. Even the best belters will get vocal fatigue due to constantly belting in higher registers. It has happend 2 Whitney, Bette Midler, Garland..etc & Agnetha's voice took more of a pounding, constantly belting past her vocal break & is 1 of the reasons I admire her greatly.

I really don't get people constantly accusing Agnetha of being a bad dancer & Frida being so amazing. Newsflash: neither of these girls were dancers & Agnetha's dancing was no less awkward than Frida's which is evident to anyone watching these clips. Just because one is wilder than the others doesn't make you a better dancer. Regardless, Agnetha didn't need to over-dance anybody since she didn't have to do much to be noticed. My eyes were transfixed on her. She rocked it.

For the international viewers: Formerly, I found that ABBA was really cool and I liked listening to them. From todays' view, it has something of cult and as a man I would mention that "Frida and Agnetha were really smokin' hot brides in these times"...

This RV programme is called disco, but this song is a pure rock´n´roll!!!

Anyone with a sense of musicality an rythm, knows that Frida is the best singer AND dancer of them. True, none of them were trained dancers, but it is obvious that Frida has more rythm and joy in performing on stage. Agnetha has said so herself, she always felt more comfortable in the studio. She has barely no rythm at all!! But it`s charming in a way:-)

They are both fantastic if ya ask me. ABBA would not be the same without iether one of them. They sang beautifully together. I always liked Agnetha the best, but that's because I am partial to blondes, but I love Frida as well.

I have to say I find the girls' dance routines very cute. I suspect most of those people who aren't impressed with their dancing are young people, who compare the ABBA girls with today's performers. Yes, Frida tends to overdo it and be a bit ahead of the beat. Yes, Agnetha sometimes forgets to do it exactly according to the routine. But they are supercute still! I am particularly fond of the dance routines for this song, S.O.S. and Honey, Honey.

i must say, i always thought of agnetha as being the more classier and seductive dancer than the two and this video confirms that belief. she doesn't have to gyrate like a mad serpent to get herself notice, her slow and sexy movement complements the furious rhythm of the song!!!

Oh my goodness. Agnetha and the dance routine at the end may cause little boys of a certain age to spontaneously combust.

Lastly, "Thank U 4 Music", "Chiquitita", "As Good as New", "I've Been Waiting 4 U" & even "Hole in Soul" were just as if not more demanding than those 2 songs U mentioned & have been performed live on stage & according to many who were there, effectively well. Let's not forget the songs from JCS "I Don't Know How to Love Him" & "Everythings Alright" among others which were performed live several days a week & the woman was barely out of her teens.

I agree w/ CommanderCronus (except his "horrible" dancers part.. not THAT bad). Agnetha mostly stays within her comfort zone, not taking many chances, which is fine. Frida isn't necessarily more polished (far from it), but she does have a bit more natural rhythm. Couple that along with her exuberance for dancing = more fun to watch. It's hilarious how she'll sometimes lose track of what she's supposed to be doing because she gets so carried away from excitement. I love her lack of inhibition.

By the way; Frida won a national song contest in Sweden before Abba. Agnetha did not. Also, I do not really want to say this, but Abba had some trouble in the beginning due to Agnetha singing off key!This explains why Agnetha always prefered the music studio to the live scene..in a studio you can retake and retake. On stage you have one shot. Her two most difficult leads; My love, my life and The winner takes it all have never been sung live.

CONT: Many female auditionees struggled when singing Agnetha's solo songs for MAMMA MIA, I wonder why? Agnetha has stated Frida gave off a more "intense" image on stage cos she always preferred the studio & Frida loved both. That doesn't mean she didn't give her all during each performance. Frida's fans seem to turn a blind eye to the numerous times Frida has "danced" disasterously live. But she's always complemented by her fans regardless of how bad she's dancing. I don't get it.

This is quite typical though isn't it? So much of the ABBA imagery focused on Agnetha who was certainly a gorgeous woman and failed to acknowledge that Frida was equally, in some ways, even more attractive. Besides Frida had a maturity and self confidence that Agnetha could never match and that made her far more alluring, at least to me.

We do not agree, and that is ok by me. I love Agnetha too, but prefer Frida, it is that simple. I DO NOT try to drag Ags down. I find her truly charming and talented. I just find Frida more talented and beautiful, and I am entitled to my opinion, for gods sake! As for the singing, it depends where the pitch of your voice is. For me, it`s more difficult to sing Fridas leads then Agnethas. I did not say anything bad about Agnethas voice, I just said Frida was better.

I guess I should "modify" my statement. The dancing wasn't completely horrible...because Bjorn's moves weren't all that bad.

I do have a sense of musicality/rythmn. I trained classically (opera)& theatre & I can tell U Frida's moves were JUST as awkward. Just because she's wilder & moves more doesn't change anything. U prefer Frida- great but 2 diminish Agnetha's vocal talents is unecessary. Try singing Agnetha's solos in FULL voice & then Frida's & you will see Agnetha's songs are far more vocally demanding, written in higher keys, by the vocal break.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion I was merely responding to the many "Frida is better" posts. The only instance I read that stated Agnetha sang off key alot earlier in ABBA's career was in the book DARK SHADOWS which many have branded as questionable. Regardless, every singer evolves including Frida. Agnetha (who was 5 years younger) NEVER would have landed the female lead in a major musical JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR had she sung off key. You cannot fix bad vocals live on stage.

Let's face the facts: Agnetha and Frida were both terrible at dancing. Absolutely, undeniably horrible. But then again, they never really put all that much effort into it. Their focus was on making the records, and in that regard they were geniuses. Besides, I think all their dancing misshaps are cute, in a way. I will always love ABBA.

Oh God, Agnetha is a so good singer but a so bad dancer... Frida is always amazing in this song.

What moves does Frida have? She's wilder. That's all. What she's doing isn't exactly dancing. It's staging/moving to the music at best. Ags wasn't exactly standing still either. You prefer Frida, great. But to constantly state she was a better dancer is laughable. None of them were dancers- they were vocalists. Regardless, Agnetha wins it hands down for me. She didn't have to outdance anyone to be noticed.
