Benny and Bjorn were the songwriters and can you believe that there was actually a kind of "ABBA backlash" especially from music critics because they had so many hits? Some critics claimed that they had some kind of formula for writing hit songs and they would just used that formula. I saw a recent interview with Bjorn (the guitarist) and he said that claim was so ridiculous. He said they were just writing songs and had no idea if anybody would even like them.
@AhsimNreiziev4 жыл бұрын
It's not so much that ABBA had a formula. It's that they were masters of knowing exactly what a lot of people would like at any given point in time, and were also masters at crafting the perfect songs in every way imaginable to fit that want/need. So it's more craftsmanship than pure artistry, perhaps, but no less impressive and it requires no less talent. It's just that it's a *(slightly)* different talent comparatively. The Bjorn claim is ridiculous, however, because it is rather well-documented that ABBA knew _exactly_ what they were doing.
@qthelost4 жыл бұрын

Bro, you still have so much ABBA to hear and arguably, you've not covered all their best material yet, some if it, but certainly not all. Suggestions? Early tracks; SOS (several prominent musicians have said SOS is the best pop song ever written), you need to react to that! As for other tracks I would recommend, see below - Hasta Manana - Another really early track but a lovely ballad chiquitita - Slightly later track, but fantastic composition. Slipping through my fingers - One of their best ballads Like an angel passing through my Room - On their last album, Frida sings it, you will hear just how fantastic her mezzo soprano voice is. Bang-a-Boomerang - Early track, but upbeat and feel good. Why did it have to be me - Again, early, but another bouncy track There's obviously more, but something to consider!

Thanks for taking us with you on these journeys of discovery. Too many of us get too comfortable in our own little lanes, or find that we've become too cynical and closed in mind and heart. The world can be a tough place, all the more so to those that feel things so strongly. It's tempting to turn the volume down on the world and so many people go through their days and years ever more closed down. Feeling the discovery, joy, and that irreplaceable fun in experiencing these legends along with you is a great reminder that respecting other's perspectives and experiences is incredibly valuable. Discovering a song that feels like you've always heard it somewhere deep in your heart, or that says something you feel right away, is priceless. Keep your head up always. Much love.
