Follow-up: • Man Who Called Out All...
When Greg Barrett (a KISD graduate from 1983, formerly known as Greg Gay) spoke at a recent school board meeting, no one expected would happen next. Mr. Barrett describes the horrendous school bullying he endured as a teen - proclaiming that the very man sitting on the school board is the person who bullied him some 35 years ago. Mr. Barrett believes he was attacked because his last name was "Gay".

AAA Logic You don’t know that( some people just bully for the sake of being a piece of garbage), and yeah people should forgive. But, it is very obvious he isn’t remorseful, just because a person gets hurt doesn’t mean they can have a free pass to hurt others. I have been hurt , but I don’t use my trauma to be a crappy person. Hurting others after knowing what you’ve been makes it worse. Yeah, he should let it go, but that doesn’t excuse the judge’s behavior either. He made no effort to right his wrongs, he didn’t even apologize ( he freaking laughed)... That’s the problem.

There is little difference between sociopath and psychopath, and differing clinical definitions depending on who you ask. They are poorly clinically defined. Unfortunately you cannot "correct" psychopathy out of someone... only manipulative behaviors. They are still psychopaths and will act without remorse, which is the true problem. It does typically show itself in childhood and it definitely should be corrected - psychopath or not. But if corrected in psychopaths they will always revert, because correction and enforcement/punishment doesn't affect them in the same way it affects non-psychopaths, with whom they cannot relate.

@Richard Schiffman yeah but either some parents don’t have time or have very little general knowledge or little knowledge about specific topics that are also important. Which is only natural of course, but that’s my point, no one person could replace all teachers a kid would have at a school. They might not be perfectly effective all the time or serve the best education experience but the sheer knowledge a child is exposed at a school is important for any child growing up in today’s world. Now that doesn’t mean that we can’t change it of course. Maybe the school system needs a complete rework from the ground up, absolutely. I just don’t think that home schooling is a valid alternative

I was a bullied kid in school. Later in life I learned different martial arts and learned to stand up for myself. Grew above the line of fear. However, one thing I've learned about bullies after years of being bullied: >They are primarily cowards. >They pick up on the weak and vulnerable only, to show their pseudo strength. And that is because they are sh** scared of those stronger or tougher than them. > A truly courageous and tough person will never bully a weaker person as a gesture of class and self respect, which the bullies have none.

Victims of bullies always remember. I remember every single incident of me being bullied in elementary school, middle and high school as if I could play it back on a vhs tape, Netflix etc. it’s a shockingly painful memory to reminisce that I sometimes can’t help to playback It’s like the memories have its own alarm that it sets and randomly goes off when it won’t Nowadays the memories are embarrassing more than they are painful but the scars are still there. Even though I’ve gotten far in life and am at a more peaceful place it makes me wonder where I would be if I had support. My dad wasn’t around, my mom was snuggled up under my abusive step dad, my siblings were more extroverted than me and to make matters worse I was the weird gay kid But I lock back now with where I am today with a smile but also shock because there were times I thought about taking sleeping pills to end it all or walking in front of a vehicle but man the world I’ve seen since then makes me smile But I still want to lay hands on my bullies idc 😂 I’m strong now. 😂

I'm 72, today, and it still hurts. Being choked out by a bully twice my size. It was in the boy's PE shower. I was naked, went into an anoxic seizure. I recall the dim sound of something banging on metal, like a dream... That was my head slamming into the door of a locker as my full blown seizure was out of control. The coach laughed at me, said I looked like a plucked chicken. I endured being an outcast all through grade school, and very lonely from first grade until my senior year in high school. It sticks on you for life. There are other board members up on that bench that think this poor man's plight is amusing. Not only that jerk Lance, but that beeyatch sitting up there with him thought it was funny as well. I remember thinking about sneaking the .22 rifle out of my father's closet and getting the kids who used to hide in the bushes and throw rocks at me from cover as I walked to the school bus stop every morning. Bullying hurts and the pain and shame never go away. What finally helped was turning to our Lord, Jesus Christ. I have found strength and forgiveness in Him. It's never too late.

And he would of got life in prison. That’s real smart. I was bullied when I moved to the US when I was 7. Bullied everyday at school, I turned out fine. I snapped one day and beat the shit out of one of the bullies that was way bigger than me but my adrenaline kicked in so hard, I made him cry. I was never bullied again after that, ended up being friends with some of them. Not everything has to end in someone being killed. Either retaliate by violence and not by shooting yourself or someone or just live with it and one day it’ll pass. These school shooters are such pussies b/c they may kill bullies but also innocent children get killed too, and people support that?

There needs to be more effective ways in dealing with individuals of sociopathic and psychopathic tendencies. The current expected manner of treatment, both in the community and the clinic is proving to be counterproductive in actually minimizing the societal damage caused by such individuals. This would include measures to both prevent and treat these brain disorders, particularly one’s which would stress the level of prevention. The sufferers of the disease are not those with it, but those around them, and that simply is an untold amount of consequential damage in almost all domains of operation. Especially as observed in rare cases involving corruptions of power such as is most likely this one.

The bully laughs because he sees it as a funny memory. He wasn’t thinking about the effect it had on his victim, but the joy he felt in overpowering his victim. There is still a part of him that feels this way after all these years. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have responded that way. That is a dangerous trait for someone in authority to have. He quit out of embarrassment, but he was a risk to the larger community and that is why he had to leave.

I was bullied, too. But I was lucky. I had an EXCELLENT support system. My mom was a teacher and my dad was military. They told me not to start something, but absolutely finish the job if anyone laid a hand on me. I took their word to heart. I was sexually harassed for being a cute girl, and I was way too nice for my own good. I learned to find my voice and find a group of friends to stick to. My mom raised HELL over the harassment I’ve suffered from other students, and my HS principal said “boys will be boys” and that it wasn’t a big deal. Mom was a vicious creature-and told him she will do *anything*, whatever it takes, to stop this from happening. It eventually did. But I was raring to freaking GO on my bullies since my parents pretty much gave me the go ahead, and if I got suspended for defending myself, they would celebrate with me. I do understand that there are kids who aren’t as lucky.

@dh7164 3 жыл бұрын
@@shototodoroki3543 that's silly. In addition to supernatural experiences in my life(complex situations, not sensations like drug highs), the logical investigation from physics has concluded that God exists - and his personhood and intelligence is clearly the source of our own because the universe cannot generate what it does not already have. There is no refutation for the arguments from Motion, Cause, etc. The fact that a universe exists with a rational structure the human mind is capable of comprehending(it cannot comprehend nonrational structures) indicates that rational mind devised its structure in the first place. Religion is a reflection both of how human beings comprehend the why of their existence, and it has been elevated by God since he reaches out to his creation and shows the way to a meaningful life, and incorporates our religious nature into that for our own personal sense of fulfillment, just as good food satisfies both our taste and our hunger. Most atheists are atheists because of emotional resentment toward God - which they themselves admit. Other atheists are agnostics who haven't exhaustively searched the body of human thought and investigation and call themselves atheist for emotional reasons when they are merely agnostic for reasons of ignorance. My point is that deciding to be atheist has little to do with the truth. Agnostics admit they don't know - as do uneducated believers. Atheists are people who decide what the truth is rather than letting the truth be the truth and seeking to find out what it is. As for me, I can no longer question the existence of God - I have seen the arguments and it is like 2+2=4 - I can no longer deny the conclusion. It took a lot of study to get there, but my question has been more about what God is like and what does he want from me. Remember, just because you don't understand or know something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. People deny God's existence more for ideological, political, economic, and emotional reasons than for rational ones.

@DangerSlayer Well I was bullied by many over the years and to be honest many of those people are still the same today but I'm not stuck with them each day anymore. Most of them haven't changed and most of them I've never spoken to again. But that's ok, I have people in my life who love me, and I know I am loved by God always, no matter what. It means that I can forgive others and not harbour resentment in me heart, which is very freeing. I would encourage you to read the Bible and see that this can be true for you too, you can start anywhere but I would recommend reading one of the gospels, like Luke. You can read it online or buy a bible pretty cheap. There are plenty of good translations, one that's fairly straightforward and easy to read but still historically accurate and faithful to the original text is the NIV (new international version). :)

@Djxjxhxh Hzjsjsjssb what, you wanted him to walk to a bunch of bullies and punch them? Then what? He leaves the school or stay in the school and try his best to run away from the bullies? That’s why teachers and adults are in the school for, they are much bigger, stronger and intelligent. And they would most likely help you and protect you, and if they don’t call the cops or better tell your parents to get you out of that school.

I would say shoving someone's face into a urinoar so hard the lip splits is assault, not bullying. And that is, indeed, a crime. Kicking someone who's lying in fetal position would also be a crime. But the biggest crime is still Supernintendo Chalmer's face. It incites violence by being so punchable.
