A lot of people in the comments know nothing about mermaiding, she actually did what she was traned to do. If youre in a dangerous situation (tail is caught, leg cramp, ect) it's called the quick release, you kick one foot out of the monofin, then use the othet foot to kick the other out. It's something all professionals are taught. She actually prefered life over her own career. Her tail was caught and she couldn't pull her fluke out, its not because she "can't swim". She did the only other thing she could do. Im surprised about the amount of hate this lady is getting over saving her own life.

It is made of cloth. I hope she invests in a silicone tail. Less likely to get snagged. I read a merman got stuck in this same aquarium and another merman had to help free him.

@@miketez1 it does happen often, but basically it’s about following the same rules as you would swim like a normal human but with extra precautions. in fact, the tail i wear (fin fun brand) has the release feature which allows me to kick one foot then the other to pull it down when i’m in distress. plus if you’re not a strong swimmer or have good skills, it’s highly recommended not to use it (especially young children and toddlers who cannot swim)

I sometimes work around an Mermaid attraction in Las Vegas. The Mermaid is never in the tank by herself! Stand by rescue diver is in the tank and regulators with air lines are positioned on tank floor.

Whew yeah that was a relief. If the tail didn’t slip off, she could’ve drowned. The same thing would happen to a dolphin if they got stuck to a reef or a net. They can’t breathe underwater like other fish do since they’re mammals. I remember that wonder pets episode for some reason where Lenny, Tuck and Ming Ming were helping a dolphin out of the net fore they drowned. But they were able to get the dolphin free with the help of a sword fish.

My kids were traumatized when they went to see the “Easter Bunny” at a local drug store. The guy in the suit was a friend of ours, and my wife worked there also. Because of this, we often walked through the back of the store. Well, my kids saw the “Easter Bunny” with his head off, drinking coffee, and it rocked their world!

I've had a thing for large aquariums since little. Even kitted out divers have hidden air hoses and bubble tubes in the sand floor and reef columns that they can yank out to get air. I'm not too surprised since this is South Africa, but damn, safety first.

Wish she didn't really hast into panic like that and kept calm in that intense situation. But she managed to free herself which is good. Guys you never want to allow yourself to go into panic mode. Being under water in a unfortunate situation like that.

Yeah easy for you to say because you not in that moment. I drowned at 12 and they had to do CPR to bring me back. I know the feeling of knowing that you can no longer hold your breath.. your body automatically panics cause u know that you are about to DIE, holding your breathe but your eyes about to pop, remaining calm will not make a difference when it comes to the breath that you can no longer hold .. what you expect for her to struggle for air with grace and dignity for the sake of some kids🤔😬

This mermaid here is called Nokukhana the Mermaid Sister real name is Gabriela Kay she did the the right thing here. Gabriela is a experienced swimmer, freediver, & mermaid which is why she was able to get herself out of danger here. I met her on social media and she told me how it went down what matters here I'm glad she's fine and been fine for months since.

That's so scary,this was posted on a daily dose internet channel on here...everyone ignored this clip when here im anxious watching it. That poor girl i know that fear,why don't they have decorated air tanks/hoses? I was once very young and was visiting fam at an unfamiliar waterpark,i was left unattended and jumped a diving board not realizing how deep the water was...i was only used to 3-5ft pools n using the wall for wave areas but w lil experience anyway this pool for some reason was waay to deep, i think it said the pool was 11ft? I loved swimming ALOT,i was a fish as a kid so i was fast, but fuck,i thought i had gotten to the top whilst gtn dizzy n not understanding why i was swimming for so long in my pre teen mind,i think i was 10? ..anyway i remember reaching up for the sunlight waiting for air to.touch my hand n it didn't n my body reacted w me gulping inward which i caught right away n then was up,kicking like hell. Nobody even noticed. I reached the top js as i was about to black out,It was unsettling to watch this knowing how close she could've been n the fact everyone's js watching. Glad she's ok man

"Professional mermaid" How do you get to be a professional mermaid? Are there appreticeships, or do they just get a degree? ... you know, from a mermaid school?

You usually need a certificate from padi mermaid school or equivalent. Some places just require a free diving certificate. If it's a freelancer, they don't need a degree or certification.
