It's L.A. County, which does everything it can to help & coddle criminals. The perps usually cut a plea deal that gets approved by a leftist judge, then they do some community service and they're back out on the streets to do it again. Rinse and repeat. That's how California rolls, and the idiot voters keep voting for the same corrupt, criminal-lover trash that keep the system going.

Yes. Usually it's a 20 second story or less, they'll replay the crash they caused, the perp getting cuffed, they'll show the guy in court and tell you his sentence... If you blink you'll miss it It's not unheard of but there's just so many chases, people only care about the really wild ones.

Most of these chases give up out of boredom. They don't even have to walk back to the police. This deserves at least a hundred dollar fine, that's severe punishment in LA.

What makes me so mad about carjacking is, they have taken someone's vehicle that they use to get to work, take their children to school, doctors to go get food. They don't care the person whose vehicle has been stolen will not get the same amount for the vehicle, its going to take awhile for the insurance to write them a check and in the meantime they can loose their job and home.

Most people live paycheck-to-paycheck, and if you're only just making ends meet, you may not have the extra funds to afford alternative transportation in the meantime (renting, leasing, whatever) while insurance works on getting you less than what you need to buy a new vehicle. Given that this is a pickup truck, doubly so if it's a work vehicle.

OCPD! Great job. You guys are great! I don’t live there anymore, but watched this and knew your strategy would be top notch and it was. Cameras on the driver were great. Don’t know what his motive was, but from the tracking he seemed depressed. Take this into consideration. He showed no excessive speeds, and his actions exiting the truck tame. Something is going on his life. Sad. Great job PD.

As a news item I feel cheated somehow in that It appears that we will not easily learn what really happened. Was he a carjacker or not? Was he guilty of anything ? Why was he slow in exiting the vehicle ? In this case it happened only 2 months ago so it is unlikely he has been to court except on bond hearing. (most likely). His case wont go to trial for maybe a year or more. So much for the right to a speedy trial.

Seriously folks, why are cops so stupid during a pursuit? No traffic, slow speed, yet they failed to pit him or block him in with their vehicles. This pursuit should have never gone on this long! Then, when he did stop, they all parked behind him instead of blocking him from fleeing again! SMDH!

pit maneuvers are insanely dangerous for all involved. This was slow, obviously nobody was put in immediate danger with an empty freeway. And when he stopped, he clearly couldn't travel further. Blocking him in *may* have been better (but I'm inclined to let the literal professionals make that call), but a peaceful, non-violent arrest is the ideal ending, and they executed that part flawlessly here.
