This looks AMAZING, and I'm sure a family of four can save for years and years just to get the chance to go to one game. Including parking, food, drinks, and game tickets that will cost that family of four a cool $2000 or maybe $4000 by the time it's completed.

Especially as your taxes will spike to pay for this! Let the 100 year old billionaire and her family pay for it. Tell the city of Chicago to sell the land and building to them for what they would pay in Arlington Heights and the cost of a new stadium after renovations. Otherwise Chicago may as well kiss their team goodbye and make plans to commute a whole (gasp) 30 minutes into the suburbs

A bad idea that is not going to happen. While the city was gutting the oldest stadium in the league Seattle was building Qwest Field for half the cost of the Soldier Field renovation. A renovation that reduced the seating capacity to the smallest in the NFL and cost Soldier Field its landmark status. THAT is why the Bears are leaving. In the former location of the South Works steel mill you have a vacant 415 acre site on the lakefront that could be given to the Bears and let them build their own stadium but that is way too close to the crime problems that plague the South Side. The Mayor is just too busy floating ideas like this and a casino instead of getting control of that mess.

You would rather have it be demolished in 2 years than to have it remodeled & still in use? That is what is going to happen if the Bears leave. It will be become to costly it will be torn down & made into a useless park. So yea great idea bud.
@jeffc1347
@jeffc1347 Жыл бұрын
That is not accurate that the city did something different from what the Bears wanted in 2002, the city gave the Bears everything they wanted. Seating capacity isn't important to teams anymore its all about premium seating that they can sell to corporations and extremely high net worth individuals. And the reason the Bears are moving is because they can own a stadium/real estate development, not because they are dissatisfied with the 2002 renovation.
@Philtration
@Philtration Жыл бұрын
@@thetruth5350 Who is going to play there? Who is going to come up with the 2 Billion price tag for the same place with a bubble on top instead of building a new one for the same money? The Bears control their own destiny now. They do not want to rent a stadium, they are going to own the land in Arlington Heights and they are done with Soldier Field. The Mayor claims "We will just get another team" That is NOT going to happen. The NFL is not moving a team to Chicago and the Bears are not going to vote for another team coming here. They do have a vote in this matter.
@Philtration
@Philtration Жыл бұрын
@@jeffc1347 I never said the city did something different from what the Bears wanted. I know they are moving because they can own a stadium/real estate development. The renovation just bought them time and nothing has been done since then. The renovation was paid for by the city, the NFL and the Bears but the NFL and the Bears do not own the stadium while the city does. That money was poorly spent and now they are going to be stuck with tiny crowds at Soccer games, occasional concerts and a college football game once in a while. That is if they can finally manage to keep the turf in playing condition for ANY sporting events. That alone has been a mess for years.

It has a lot of meaning to not only the people of Chicago but every Bear's player that ever played in that stadium. Without it, Chicago would lose one of the most historically significant stadiums to its history. Where with Wrigley Field and kept their original stadium alive and well, I hope and pray the Bears can do the same. Also having Chicago be able to host a Superbowl would actually be really cool too!

.... Of course there are plenty of people to support this idea... Especially when the infrastructure is mostly in place with mass transit. It's just about extending train lines and adding stations to the new stadium.... With this redevelopment it could attract a big time college football championship games, the super bowl, even world cup soccer games and even gives the city of Chicago and advantage for any Olympics bid... The problem here is that the property is owned by the city of Chicago.... And the Chicago Bears & the NFL will not allow all of this redevelopment that ONLY raises a revenue for the city of Chicago without a true partnership.... Instead of letting the Chicago Bears by the property in Arlington Heights the greedy city of Chicago should have thought about selling the lakes front property which Soldier Field currently stands on.... Also figured out a deal with the city on redevelopment for mass transit hub, hotels and convention center... Now they want to put out this proposal to keep Chicago's beloved team in the city when it might be a little too late.... The ownership of the Bears has already paid 300 plus million for the new proposed property in Arlington..... It's to see the situation so badly mismanaged

But on the other hand, I don't think it would work for the Bears in that I strongly suspect that the Bears are looking for ownership of their facility. Not just be a lead tenant (paying rent to the City). For the teams history, they've never owned their own stadium. With Arlington Heights, they finally will. I think that's what's truly driving the Bears. But the facility should be built. The transit portion would work beyond belief. The dome would give the city yet another year round facility that generates revenue for the city.

The point is : a major tenant (like the Bears) is needed for ROI. If the Bears want to own their own stadium, they should pay for it ON THEIR OWN. Don't stop them. They've made tons of money using Soldier Field and Chicago. Now.... let them move. Recruit another NFL franchise to play in Soldier Field.

Mstephens - Bingo! The Bears want their own stadium, BUT they want Chicago taxpayers to pay for it. This is the team that traded Roquan Smith, Kahlil Mack and ____Quinn. They did it to save $$$, not invest in it. The Bears want Chicgo to GIVE them money! The McCaskeys care about enriching THEMSELVES, not entertaining Chicago fans. I say, let them go to Arlington Hts. And Chicago should find another team who wants to play in Soldier Field.

@@michaelskoomamacher5652Yeah that's the point dude. You can't demand or want to own a facility and not have the funds to build it. If the Bears and the NFL want their own facilities, THEY need to pay for it in full without city taxes or tax breaks. Otherwise they should quit their bitching.

Adding to what's still owed for the first renovation just to keep a tenant that uses the place 8 or 10 times a year has be one of the worst ideas ever.

There is enough tourist/commercial density in downtown to support it and this is a destination location, not just a secondary attraction. Chicago needs to solve its crime problem first, and then locals will start returning to downtown....not before.

50 years to late. The last renovation to Solider field was a waste of money and destroyed the history and landmark of Soldier field. This still does not resolve the issue the Chicago Bears will not have the rights to Solider field and be 100% owner for the team to be 100% profitable as well off season. Also Solider field does not allow to have less expensive seats for all income of families can attend a Chicago Bears game. We have lost tail gating in the parking lot at Soldier field. lost parking and now with this new idea will take away parking from the historical museums? Less and Less families are leaving the City of Chicago and don't come into the city for entertainment or awesome shopping anymore. Restaurants, Retailers are closing their doors in the City of Chicago because of huge crime, theft and less restaurant goers and shoppers. This will not be convincing to Chicago Bears franchise to stay. The Chicago Bears have acquired the perfect piece of property to invest in and bring money in from developing this property with on property hotels, restaurants, shopping, entertainment district steps away from the stadium and Papa George Halas had considered Arlington Heights many years ago wanting to leave Solider Field for Arlington Heights. Easy access by steps to front door by Metra train with train stop right there buses and car. Many local city hotels access to the stadium location as Schaumburg's convention center very close by less than !0 min away can buss hotel guest right to the stadium and drop them off steps away from the front door for less expensive hotel stay and close to a convention center hotel. They will bring back a tail gating area for tail gating fans and plenty of safe close parking for all fans to come to a game in Arlington Heights. If Chicago Bears franchise future is near or preparing to sell the franchise after Virginia McCaskey passes away the family can sell all or keep a share of stock. The McCaskey family, great grand children will be set for life and the franchise can go from 4 Billion in value to 100 to 200 Billion to highest Buyer to purchase this historical franchise with owning their own stadium and huge real estate property. Chicago cannot compete with 326 acres in Arlington Heights Race Track property The McCaskey family want to complete the purchase. Chicago Bears are moving and they will be gone by 2026 to break their lease with Chicago Park District. Just wait and see big news coming this spring they finish the purchase of the property and more details of their future plans when they can break ground for the new stadium. There will not be any NFL expansion team playing at solider field the NFL will not allow it. No franchise will make any money they will not own it but be owned Chicago Park district with rent. Soldier field will be a summer stadium by the lake front for Chicago Park district events, mainly summer soccer and concerts or maybe Chicago Blackhawks outdoor winter fest game being hosted there from time to time, maybe? City Chicago is broke they need that money to clean up that City of Crime, homelessness and poverty. City of Chicago and State tax payers still have not paid off the first renovation to Soldier Field? Chicago Bears will stay Chicago Bears only NFC NFL team in the Chicago Market moving to Arlington Heights like all other NFL teams who have moved out of their own big Cities which they once played.

The Bears should absolutely do this, but I know they won't. They want their spaceship in the middle of the suburbs with their little lame casino. The venue will of course look nice. But honestly, I'd prefer it if they stay at Soldier and just take the renovation.

I’m not firm Chicago, I’m from Wisconsin. As much as I enjoy this concept, I’d rather not mess with this iconic location anymore than it has already been tampered with. We’ve already lost so much of this iconic venues architecture, I’d hate to see it get overshadowed anymore.
