Swimming with manatees is one of the most unique experiences you can have in Florida. Three Sister Springs is home to the world's largest natural congregation of manatees with over 700 expected during the winter months.

If only I'm not scared of swimming and if flight tickets to the US are not sky high, I would be there for sure.

I just want to know why alligators and crocodiles don’t mess with them? What’s your secret fam? :)

They are to big for them
@relativexistence505 Жыл бұрын
Their skin is too thick to bite through easily. Predators usually judge how much energy it takes to get their meal vs how much energy they’ll get from a meal. So itd take a really determined crocodile to do harm

Too much effort and they're pretty ineffective against the manatee's skin. Alligators and Crocodiles are opportunistic feeders meaning they typically wait for an easy meal that won't take much energy to take down. They would rather wait for something to vulnerable that they can easily kill instead of wasting time and energy on a manatee

somehow it seems strange to talk about why we need to protect the beautiful manatees in one breath, and advertise burgers and "freshly-caught seafood" at "the plantation" in the next. why are we so selective about the creatures we love and the creatures we kill and eat? just because something's not cute or friendly doesn't mean it can't experience unspeakable pain
@321gates3 ай бұрын
Maybe because its only legal to hunt wildlife with healthy numbers.

To be honest I don't like the way Flora treats these animals They should be out in the ocean where they belong not locked up in little ass rivers and waterways so people can interact with them they're not your toys or your pets they're wild animals who deserve to be out where they belong in the ocean The fact that I keep seeing videos like this where these animals have to pile up on top of each other and stuff is disgusting
@nicalb69298 ай бұрын
@officialDJ manatees spend most of their time in shallow water, since that's where seagrass grows. This is their natural habitat, no one is "locking"them up.
@tripsupstairs8 ай бұрын
They’re not locked up actually they choose to be there. They’re literally living in the wild. The rope is just there to prevent people from getting too close to the crowd. Shallow waters are their natural habitat because that’s where it’s most comfortable and has food.
