Hewitt is the largest producer of organic meat in Australia.
From cattle and sheep stations to piggeries, the company's a big player with more than two million hectares of land.
Behind it are two brothers who grew up as wild bush kids with big dreams.
Landline's Kristy O'Brien paid them a visit in the Northern Territory.

Fabulous story. What fabulous role models for the organic movement. You can inherit, and still stuff it up. Well done gentlemen on your lateral thinking and hard work.

Brilliant .. . These fellas have linked into a sustainable food business that is beneficial for all involved including the animals and land. Top job fellas, from a fellow organic small scale farmer.

Thank you for this incredulous story. Without this program, I would not have known about the Hewitts Organic Meats! I feel ripped off here in WA. I haven't seen or heard of this preferred meat for sale anywhere here in WA 😢 Are you supplying WA? If so, who are the stockists? If not, can I buy online? I'm over non-organic, toxic foods supplied by big-chain supermarkets. Love your feedback. Thanks again, for what you do. I love that you haven't lost yourselves; that you have used high intelligence, and Humility to set your business up 🎉❤🙏

What a great job these guys are doing. They mentioned that they are looking at ways of sequestering carbon. Well, rotational grazing is the ticket there. Though I’m sure they are already on to that.

They should sell all that land and buy 100 acres in nz and probably have the same amount of cattle
@howardsimpson489

35000 cattle beasts would be stacked 3 high on 100 acres, let alone 200,000. NZ soils are still being raped by artificial fertilisers, cadmium and nitrates in ground water. How sustainable the Australian no return organic is going to be will take a few years to develop.

Better for them to be quiet. If or when you're to visible and well known, questions are going to be asked. -What about the locals-? What do they get out of it? So many sheep and cattle need Water. Where does it come from? Pumping dry the aquifers? And what then?

I don't reckon good businessmen make good farmers. Nor do good farmers make good businessmen. But, put the two together and farming can be a sensational business.
