I would strongly urge anyone who watches this to not unscrew a mokka pot just after brewing with it. Instead, just run the bottom half under a cold water tap while the top half is still attached so you can hold the handle. I understand that he used a towel to unscrew it, but you're still left with a scolding hot bottom half once unscrewed.

I drink Turkish coffee every day, and have done so for many years. Stirring is IMO/IME detrimental to flavor. I boil the water, gently soak the grounds, put it on the fire again, let it rise, gently push the grounds to the bottom and repeat the process three times, sprinkle a few drops of cold water on top, let it sit for a few moments, then pour it into a heated cup. It doesn't get excessively bitter and has a very rich and full flavor.

I would just like to point out you should try not to grind coffee in advance. If you have no option but to grind a few days in advance (like borrowing a friends grinder), then that’s ok. But if you have your own grinder, grinding as close to brew time as possible will give you the best results, as the coffee has less time to oxidise which can cause some of the nicer flavours to turn to not-so-nice.

Of all the videos and explanations I've seen through the years, I can say this just easily became one of my top 3. The guy has such a friendly voice, gentle look and a good vibe. Only thing I didn't agree with is to try and unscrew the mokka pot, that's specially dangerous if you're just starting to learn.

Did you ever try making coffee by cold extraction ?? Grinded beans and COLD water the night before (12-24h before drinking) - next day filter it and heat in the MW (or the other way around if it's a coffee pot piston (French coffee pot) - that makes a very mild coffee - to be savoured both warm and cold 🙂C'est servi !!

I use the last method. I recently did coffee in electric kettle which turned out to be the best. Add spoons of coffee powder when the water begins to heat. once the water boils ,the kettle automatically stops. Pour out and drink. Simple , easy and best taste. Quickest coffee making too. But the coffee has to be put into the kettle at the right time.

I wouldn't risk removing the bottom boiler on the moka pot like he did. Just wait until the water to fall back down into the boiler after removing the moka pot off the stove, then immediately pour out the liquid into a cup.

@@thegreenman941 I believe it all depends on the size of the moka pot itself. You normally fill it with water just below the valve no matter the size of the moka

Agreed. If you are worried about "overheating" the coffee, you can just cool off the boiler chamber by putting it under cold running tap water. Why risk grabbing a hot pot with your hands and messing around with a pressurized chamber? Seems silly...
