Can you learn Chinese from a DEER? Watch me try out some lessons and exercises on this popular language learning app!

TL:DR
Lingodeer is actually a decent app for covering all the basics of Chinese. It includes good exercises combined with native speaker recordings and realistic dialogues. There are 1000 characters included in the writing practice section, and the Travel Phrasebook section is a great reference for those looking to use Chinese in their travels. However, this app didn't really have any distinguishing features that make it stand out, and feels only marginally better than other apps that are completely free to use, so you have to decide if that's worth if for you to spend money. This would be a good app for people learning Chinese to travel, but otherwise you're better off with Hello Chinese or Duolingo.

I've tried them all and Lingodeer is my favorite, I like it mostly because of the way it revisits things spaced out throughout the lessons help me grasp changes in the grammar (and building of more grammar) without it feeling like i'm doing grammar lessons. I also thought it was weird to start with countries, but I think it tied in better as the lessons went, than its initial lesson.

Hi, I'm gonna learn chinese through an application but I'm still confused what application I have to use first. Do you use hellochinese too? If you do, what's the better application to use first between hellochinese and lingodeer? Thank you in advance😊

@@tiarawulandari834 I believe that ABChinesee does have good points about hellochinese's benefits, I personally didn't mind the way it was presented even though it wasn't as easier to start than hellochinese. I had already done yoyochinese's intro to pinyin and Chinese when I started looking at apps. What made the app really pop for me was how the grammar gets added in, even though they have explanations for it, I found the way they went about adding it in slowly and expanding it while adding in new vocabulary just really clicked for me over hellochinese. In their lingodeer plus app (which is a seperate purchase, boo), I found that their games included seeing good and bad grammar, you can also do phrases, like eating food, brushing teeth, verbs and their nouns basically that go together and their tenses. There is so much listening practice that makes me think. I actually like that it doesn't spell everything out immediately, and the organic stretching the mind to think about it first a little helps me learn faster than if its just completely explained first like hellochinese did at the start. I hope this was helpful. I think its more important to just pick one that feels good to you and go with it. The app isn't going to replace getting your hands dirty in extensive reading! which i recommend starting as soon as possible!

I think something that gives lingodeer an edge is it's level with Asian languages as a whole because it's Japanese and Korean courses are some of the best out there. As well as there being some recently added European languages such as ; Russian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Latin America Spanish,. Italian and also they have Vietnamese. Overall the review was great and I enjoy watching your videos but maybe you could check out the Korean course seeing as you are (or where) learning it.

Dude, that song that you said was a meme song - my dad's been playing that for the past year. I was super surprised to hear it but I'm glad I have some context for it, even though I doubt he knows what a meme is. I don't speak chinese (yet) so I have no idea what's going on when it comes to chinese pop culture

they went through the all that trouble, even writing, and could not hire a single chinese person to read the damn words? anyone who checks computer generated voices in their own language will notice how off they sound at times. So when learning a foreign language how could you tell if the pronunciation is ok or not if you can't speak it?

this is really only helpful for people who already have some chinese background. like they say jiujiu (mom's brother) or baiojie (older female cousin) without using the english definitions so you just end up matching the pinyin. useless
