I could not have been happier to find that you make videos. I have an 18 month old who was recently ill and since then has started crazy tantrums (mainly because we gave into everything when he was sick). I never realised you have a year one program. I am thinking of starting that now, hope I got to it in time. Due again in July so will take it easy. 😊 thank you so much for making these videos and please keep them up!!

Can you provide more details about removing communication for a 3-4 year old? As the parent, do I just not answer the child? Do I ignore her as if I don't hear her? In the beginning, do I say something like, "When you stop screaming at me and can ask nicely, then I will answer you."? I'm just a little confused about if this is a "silent treatment" or do I put her in a "time out" so that she can't communicate with me.

Great question. I don't advocate the silent treatment, but instead a one-liner such as "I am happy to talk with children who are respectful." The comment that you shared could be a one-liner as well. Each time the child says something unrespectful, you say the same comment in a calm, respectful tone. Sometimes I say the same one liner 3-4 times. Let me know if you have further questions!

What happens if you do remove the one throwing the tantrum and he won’t stay put and wants to keep following you with the tantrum? Do you stay with him until he’s done? because that could take forever...I’m seriously struggling with my two boys (ages 3 and 4). They’re constantly fighting over toys, jumping all over the furniture and barely listening to me. I’m trying time outs and they won’t stay put.

you mentioned removing the child from the audience to calm them down... how or what should i do to calm them down?

Good question...Typically the moving away from an audience will deescalate the situation. Without the audience, the tantrum is no longer producing the desired effect.
