The new Alex that he has become would never do that. Don't destroy the character development that has happened since episode 1.

Literally at this point I’d rather Alex just have some tragic death like Derek. Like Alex has had so much character growth, his relationship with Jo was so right and he just would never just leave her. He was in love with her. This is hurting me so much.

FIRST OF ALL, at this point in Alex’s evolution, he would NEVER leave jo like that based off the fact that it happened to him and he was heartbroken! He had just told Jo how much he loved her and they should get “legally” married. He’s the chief of surgery at a hospital, Meredith and he just has so many good things that he would never walk away from! They are being so sloppy with this writing. Why not freeze their love in time like with Derek, Lexi, and Mark? I am a die hard fan of this show and they are ruining it! All they do is let Owen be great with his sister wives and 10 kids and make us watch Maggie and Jackson Fuss for 3 seasons. I’m over it! Going watch seasons 1-13

Literally when Izzy did this to Alex he was heartbroken, so the fact that they thought this was a good choice is ridiculous. Cause now jo is Devastated like it makes no sense to his character because he would never do that now. I would totally prefer him dying because then I won’t have to be sitting here thinking oh maybe he’ll come back maybe he won’t or maybe he’s just an ass like he just won’t be coming back and that’ll make the most sense Jo’s character has been through enough and the fact that she opened up to him and married him and just for him to randomly leave her is dumb.

After everything they put his character through from season one to now. He lost Izzy cause she disappeared on him, let’s not forget the psycho one(Ava), lost his mentor (Arizona) and been through hell with his family sick mom and abusive father.He would never do this. He would never just leave Jo. Especially after everything. He loved Jo. Breaks my heart.

I’m a self confessed, die hard Greys fan. I’ve stuck with it for 15 years no matter how ridiculous it’s got (I actually quite like the musical episode 😳) but if they storyline is that Alex has just upped and left, then I think even I can’t carry on watching. It would be a complete character assassination after so many years of growth

She's been through so much and just when she finally learned to trust someone, that someone ends up leaving her. This is a regression for Alex's character and the man we saw him grow into!

“Reveal” yeah, ok. Why couldn’t they just say that he’s staying in Iowa to take care of his brother or mom. I wonder what the real story is. After 15 years you don’t just leave abruptly like this. After 15 years you can wait one episode to get and give closure to the fans. Nah, there something more to this story.

When Alex left, I remember my sister saying he ended up leaving just like his father, and honestly, that's the biggest disservice to his character, he just left with a damn letter and nothing else as if it was just that simple and that it was for Izzy was just the icing for the crap cake because when he left her after she came back he said he deserved someone that treated him better than she did AND HE DID, it was such a good step forward, and then it was fucked up like this and ugh still hate it.

My theory is that he got in an accident on the way to his Mom’s and will be in a coma. This would allow him to be in a place between life and death, just in case Justin wants to return at any point. It also doesn’t completely ruin 16 years of character development because everyone knows he would never abandon Jo or Mer like that. If they do lean that way I’m done with this show that’s all I know but my theory is coma

Id like to think he went off to talk to Jo's mom to knock some sense into her and then he shows up with the mom and her family so they can meet jo and get to know her. He just kept it a secret to not get her hopes up and make sure he got through to her and did everything he could. I think Alex as much as he loves Jo, he realized that he always helped people in need. He knew that when he took jo in she was in trouble that she needed help. When he asked her to marry her , he was angry at his dad.When she did not want to marry he knew something was off. When Jo Violent husband showed up he was there to protect her. When they married he felt good everything what he wanted .When he dropped her at the mental institute as she was sick, he stayed strong to make sure she made it through and when she finally started to be able to take care of herself it hit him. He has been everybodies person ( Meredith, Jo etc) and Meredith was there for him sometimes. I think He left Jo because he knows she is in a great safe place now surrounded by friends and that she would never be alone at Grey's sloan hospital. He knows that his heart always loved Izzy more than anything in the world and that he just realized. He went to visit Izzy and he found out that she has a child and that she admitted it was his, he lied at going to help his mum to do a dna ,to prove the child is his and to buy time as he did not want to repeat history like his father did. He wanted to leave that hospital, before the airplane crash and he stayed there because he felt guilty of not being on the plane, derek death and meredith being hurt by a patient and all the people leaving the hospital. Alex will have his own private practice and will keep in contact with Meredith . Meredith will become a sister for Jo too. She will take her in as a family as Jo will need a family to rely on. Jo and link on the long run will start to have feeling for each other and they will end up together and adopt a child that is left at the station 19.

ok people lets stop with the 'trashy ending for alex after 16 years of character development' thing because first and foremost, izzie caused that development within himself and he will always end up with her no matter what. and it happened. they're together now. alex never forgotten about how he loves izzie.

They really should’ve just brought back Katherine Heigl for one episode so Izzie could tell Alex in person and we could actually SEE all of this happen for real and with the actual characters. The creators and etc of Grey’s just need to move on and get over the drama with Katherine already. She has always said she would love to come back even for a guest appearance. Katherine has apologized and it happened so long ago. What REALLY pisses me off about the Izzie situation (aside from how the way they wrote her off was absolutely terrible and SO out of character for her and basically Shonda destroyed Izzie’s character purely out of spite) is how they allowed Isaiah Washington to come back for Cristina’s goodbye even after what he said and did. His actions were SO MUCH WORSE and yet he continued to be on another popular show later on. It makes sense that Cristina’s ending involved Burke for closure, but it’s still so unfair that Izzie couldn’t return for Alex’s goodbye since we all know that for Alex, it has always been about Izzie, she was always still a part of him. I felt bad for Jo though. The writers built their relationship for years and years on this show just to end it with Alex saying he is not in love with her. 😐 He basically did the same thing to her that Izzie did to him when she first left.

Y'all, I've been saying this on many vids, I cannot stress my absolute heartbreak for Jo. I don't think I'll ever be over jolex. But something about the fact that our moody, scrappy, soft for peds, loyal, intelligent, caring, beautiful underdog got a big happy ending is sort of comforting.

I don't want to see anybody get their heart broken but I was kinda through with Jo after she had her breakdown after meeting her mom and she completely shut Alex out. I'm glad he and Izzie reconnected and will raise their kids together. Obviously Alex's love and desire to be with Izzie was stronger than what he felt for Jo or he never could have left her. Love does not always follow what we know as logic. Amelia and Link won't last. Link and Jo will be endgame.

He also didn’t get into anything serious after izzie until jo. Yes he dated Lexi but he cried out for izzie when he was dying. Izzie wanted to save her marriage before she left he turned her down. And she only disappeared for sometime before that because she thought he was getting in the way of her job because he said she wasn’t at 100% to be back at work so soon after chemo. It’s always been izzie for Alex.

Guys if you wanna blame someone, blame Justin for just up and leaving. Heck it took much convincing for him to even record the voiceover for the letter. That's very unprofessional to leave without any intimation. He should have done what Sandra did, let the writers know in advance he wanted to go. This is why we got a beautiful send off for Cristina, while Alex got all of his character development undone

Ok, in my mind, this is what happened. He went home to help his mother, who was still quite stable, but his sister Amber was not and that is why his mother needed help. They found Amber a spot in mental hospital that was available the next day. In the mean time, they got her a dose of emergency meds, they put her to bed and Alex filled her in on his life as she fell asleep. In the middle of the night Amber woke up, and still in a schizophrenic state, she kills her mother and Alex and pens these explanation letters to all the people Alex told her mattered to him. Then she hacked their bodies into pieces and dumped them in an old well behind the house. No one looks for Helen because they think Alex was coming to take her to live with them (something she mentioned she feared to a couple coworkers), and no one looks for Alex because he ran away to be with Izzy.

I can’t stop coming back to this video maybe because the new season is coming very soon so I’m just torturing myself with the reality of what’s gonna continue :/ gosh I went from loving Alex the most to disliking him. Jo really got screwed over....I cant imagine being in that place of betrayal, shock and pain. he said so mch to her to make her believe they’re okay and forever .....it’s sad :(

As badly as I wanted Alex and Jo to end, I didn’t want it to happen like this. This is so out of character for him. He would never have left her no matter how bad things got. He would never leave anyone. Even when he had good reason, he never did. He was always the one getting left! I have a feeling Hayes is going to end up being Mer’s new person. Cristina left that role for Alex to fill and now Alex is gone too. I don’t know if they will be romantic or not but I do know this man will be very important in her life moving forward.

After all that we’ve been through with Alex, watching his character development, we/he deserves a better ending.
