Blaming our actions as an adult on sexual abuse as a child IS AN EXCUSE. I was sexually abused as a child and as an adult, I have never abused anyone in that way. I don't feel bad for him, but what he is saying is certainly true about the correlation between what happened to him and how he perpetuated that abuse. He is not blaming the woman - he is talking about his experience. It is not an outlier. It is quite common. He may be a monster, but that may be what made him a monster. At 10, he was the same as what these girls/kids were that he abused. Think about it. Does it mean it's okay or excuses. It is just an explanation. He should still be in jail.

I would say maybe that sexual abuse can be classified as very bad, horrible and reprehensible, depending on severity like rape and levels of violence. But it's not all the same. If Collins is telling the truth and there is no other evidence or further testimony, then maybe Collins has paid the price for his sins. Remember it was 50 years ago that Collins placed the hand of this young girl on his package. The other couple of times when he exposed himself was in 1982 and 1994. The thing I wonder about was when Collins was recorded. Did he admit this stuff to his wife and then later on during the counseling session with her when he was recorded/entrapped? Or was he busted somewhere along the line? Admission is the road to repentance.

Sarah Baker She was a child when it happened in the 70s, but Since that was forty something years ago, I’m not surprised that he doesn’t still think of her as a child. He did admit she was a child himself when it happened, but over the years I think it is only natural that he sees her as a young woman, and would currently refer to her as such. My best friend's uncle was a sick perv and exposed himself to my friend and I. He told us to touch it. My friend reached out and I stopped her. I don't know why but I knew this was wrong, what he was doing. I told my parents and I thought my dad was going kill him. I was so scared my dad would fight him and go to jail. No fight happened and that sick f#cker never came around again. I was and still am blessed to have wonderful parents.

I was molested by my 1st cousin from the age of 5 to12yrs old. I've not done well in relationships when it comes to intimacy. I'm 48 now and have a son who is 21. I was married for 10yrs but divorced. it was hard for my ex husband to understand why I'm weird lol. I'm one of those ppl that don't like to be touched. Other then my son and 2 close friends that I call family I don't like ppl in my space. I don't like ppl I don't know hugging me etc...I was also very abused by my mother. I haven't seen or spoken to most of my family in 25 plus yrs. My mother,step dad and step siblings have never meet or seen what my son looks like. I'm very loving to my son and have a very close bond with my son. Having him saved my life. I would of taken my life along time ago if it wasn't for my boy. Just being 100% with you all. I don't give a chit if he didn't do anything other then touch. It still CHANGES THAT PERSON'S LIFE FOREVER!!! Innocence gone!!! You can pray and hide behind religion...just trust and believe you will get whats coming for you when you die.

He’s admitting he’s been going for years to therapy. In therapy you pick apart what happened to you and how you’ll make changes. And it’s very likely something done to you can mess with your head. You’ll find a lot of rapists have been molested before.

Hi, I know I'm late but actually it does make sense. not all who abuse children are sexually attracted to children. They talk about it very briefly in this too: often it is about power and feeling stronger by dominating a helpless child.

But he's right, it's a long long time ago. He was young. If we are to take him at his word and no other women have ever come forward, I don't see a problem with using that in his defence. I do understand your point though, and his behaviour was really bad - but at what point do we do accept that people can be stupid when they're young
