I was awake in owensboro ky that night playing call of duty online about 1 am to 5 am , only because I wouldn't sleep and not could the dogs. I've lived in Kentucky for 16 years. White christmas's have always been rare. I think we've had two since I've lived here. Also the reason this tornado was more deadly has nothing to do with climate change. It has to do with the fact that it happened, tragically, to hit a factory where lots of people were working. In Bowling Green, where I am, there are some neighborhoods that are just completely destroyed. It is shocking the amount of damage this tornado caused, but I certainly don't think it necessarily has anything to do with climate change.

I mean the car was getting pushed by the wind while driving to there, I luckily was just coming minutes when it was over. Unfortunately it was just beginning of the recovery and sorrow. That’s actually fairly common for an outbreak. In April of 2011 or 2012. A tornado that Hit Wichita Ks (Infact, the path of this tornado was almost identical to two other tornadoes that hit Wichita which is probably one of the only times this has happened. Extremely rare) I believe that night, Kansas had 90+ confirmed tornadoes. I was also stuck on K-15 (highway) between Wichita and Derby when the tornado was ripping through oak lawn. The rain was so heavy the windshield wipers were no help. The wind was so intense and the pressure was making our ears pop. The most horrifying thing was the sound. Imagine a haunted/ghostly train coming right at you. I’ll never forget that. Even creepier? Immediately after the tornado passed, it was dead calm. Hardly any wind. The air was warm and thick. Debris was everywhere and Spirit aero systems (airplane manufacture) looked like a bomb or two just exploded parts of the facility. We were extremely lucky and those types of tornadoes are so dangerous. At night. And covered by a strong rain cloud.
